You guys have been a great resource of diversified opinions the last week. Another situation. Friend getting married.

And he has a subscription to Playboy for the last 7 years. Every issue has been kept immaculate and he treasures them.
His future wife has summarily forbidden him to continue the subscription when they move in together after the wedding.
They will be wed in August.
My friends have all told him that it's BS since Playboy is no big deal. It's not like barely legal or some other crapola.
He's going to cancel with sorrow heart.
I told him that's a battle he shouldn't lose, since he's probably going to have to cater to all her whims.
What do you think?

I think 1) if it was my husband i wouldnt care about a nudey mag, guys masturbate... its a given.
and 2) i dont think its that big a deal that if shes upset about it that he cant give it up.. it is JUST a mag

But I'm sure he'd rather have her the the Playboy mags though. I know that I'd choose my gf over Playboy mags anyday........

I'd say its a valid issue of concern. Playboy is a decent magazine with good articles. There are picture of hot naken women in it too, but it is a reading magazine. Comprimise is the foundation of any good relationship. Tell him to keep the mags

Well said. My wife and I have been married almost four years, and I have been subscribing to Playboy for the last eight. She knew full well that I had it when we were dating, and she started reading them. Now, she gets the magazine before I do, and I usually see it when she has finished with it. I honestly do have it for the articles (some great interviews, fiction is usually good, hate most of the editorial bent though), but you can't look at the magazine without looking at the women. However, I've had a recent issue for the last two weeks and just today looked at one of the pictorials for the first time. The first thing that I look at is usually Asa Baber's Men column.

If my wife had insisted that I get rid of the magazine (girlfriend at the time), I would have told her no. It's not threatening to her in any way because it's not as if I'm going to run off with a Playboy centerfold model. Guys look at women. Guys look at naked women. It's natural.

1) So do women; let's not pretend it's a "guy thing". Not that there is anything wrong with it
2) Agree, just a mag, but you'll be surprised how many women feel threatened and insecure at "just a mag". Those type os women should not get married. IMO

That's not exactly compromising. I truly feel that their relationship is doomed if this small matter is such a big issue.

i was about to agree with you guys that she is unreasonable, but then i thought... is she really? would i be "reasonable"? you can call me insecure or whatever, but the thought of having naked pics of guys sitting around my house is just disgusting to me.
