Just got my $30 rebate check from Imation, so the 100-pack spindle cost a grand total of $5 + 34cents for mailing the rebate form. All discs I've burned on the Yamaha 20x work flawlessly - even on a really ancient 2x SCSI CD-ROM. The only quibble is that Audio CD's don't sound quite right on a high-end Stereo rig - there's a sort of slight veil over the soundstage.

Burned Ricoh 8X Gold Media at 24X, haven't had a problem so far. Brought a bunch of them awhile ago at compgeeks at $8.00 for 50 Blanks.
