I been seeing it on the local news all morning...this is great...they sent out a total of 30 units and 17 were on scene when the kid got shot lol I'm amazed he got as far as he did, the route he took isn't necessarily the easiest at 8:30pm....
But yeah this sucks...cops did their best to stop him, they showed restraint by only shooting twice, but you know that somehow this will fall on their backs :Q

That is true, it is more recognizable and nicely fits with my opinion of CNN in general.
Accuracy gets left behind for marketability.

The shooting seems a tiny bit excessive..I mean if it tops out at 30mph...it sounds like they could have...you konw...stepped out of the dozer. Still, I'll give the cops the benefit of the doubt b/c I don't know the details of the sitauation.

Not that I'm shedding tears over some tard that stole an earthmover.

Those things are hazardous to anyone on the ground when operated by a competent person, let alone some kid on a joyride. Usually brakes are optional, IE nonfunctional.
In an emergency, you stop them by dropping the can. If a cop tried to dodge the kid and they both flinched wrong, he would have been crushed without a doubt.
Shooting that kid was the only thing to do, IMO. If they waited it out, it will run on 4 flat tires, and go for a 10 hour shift or more on full tank. How many people could the kid have killed or injured?

What would have been more dangerous? A kid with a pistol and 6 bullets or a ginormous truck that KNOCKED DOWN POWER LINES like they were toothpicks? Unfortunately, most policemen/women are not Jackie Chan and cannot do amazing, daredevil stunts to stop a retarded child from causing serious damage. I'd rather the cops not get injured than be forced to sacrifice life and limb to stop some stupid/crazy teenager in his destructive path.

herm, it is a 14 yr old kid who got shot. not really somthing to be making light of guys. as far as necessity to shoot, I question that, I don't know the circumstances but I would assume that the officers probably had time to either throw it in reverse or get out of the cars instead of potentially killing a kid. :shrug;

I'd buy the shooter a beer simply for doing his job and protecting the lifes of innocent people.
