You Get What You Pay For

You know how they say "you get what you pay for"? This has got to be a scam.

For $25 membership this web site offers a 100% free notebook. It is supposed to be a 1.2 ghz P3, 512 mb, 30 gb, dvd, 14.1 tft including shipping.

Remember: caveat emptor!

uhm....no

no contact info
no phone number
no address

avoid like the plague

ask yourself, how on earth are they going to give away 1GHz laptops for $25?

<< IT IS ALL ABOUT LOW COST ADVERTISING >>

Yeah right, they actually have the nerve to actually say it's not a scam. :disgust:

And right above that, 512MD SDRAM... somebody didn't proofread the graphic that they made.
(someone will inevitably say, well i took the chance, hope it goes through, then moan about it when it doesn't. but hey, lemme know if it does work though 😉 )
anyone see if they REALLY are on the NYSE like they say?

Well, I think someone should try it right away and report back to this thread.

I'd do it, but.....ummmmmm.....I left my credit card in my other pants......yeah.......that's the ticket.

Some brave soul take the initiative and find out for us!

😀

If you go to the 3 page of the signup you get this message:

< This merchant has not been activated yet. >

What are these guys thinking? I don't think you can dispute a $25 charge can you? Most VISAs are $50 minimum. Maybe if it's fraud you can.

$25 is too much, I'd pay $3 for a new thinkpad. Can we PM this?

You can DISPUTE ANY charge. 🙂 I think you are legally liable for up to $50 if it came to that. There's some other steps inbetween that the CC Company can do that will often get you your money back. CCC generally side with the consumer--even when they are foolish and buy into things that are obviously scams.

"Netfirms offers free webhosting for any business". Think I might drop abuse@netfirms.com a note.

Also once you click on the join tab it takes you to a secure site that says that the merchant has not been activated yet.

"AWARD WINNING DESIGN"

"Prior to design we spent over 1.2 million dollars in research."

"Designed identical to the IBM® ThinkPad? T Series 2647"

What kind of idiots are these?

Sheeesh...

Rule #1...... whenever they print 'This is not a scam'...... believe it, it's a SCAM 🙂

Rule #2...... the notebook has an AYA100 interface... geeeuz christ 😕

I was willing to sacrifice $25 (and throw more spam into my Hotmail e-mail account) just to see what happens, but alas, you cannot, as they use PartyKeys.com but they do not have an account activated there (I might try back to see).

As for being listed on NYSE, the symbol "SYX" is listed as the company Systemax, Inc. which appears to be a computer manufacturer (they had a news hit on a story dealing with Gateway and M$), but calling it a $1.1 billion company might be overstated seeing as how their stock is currently trading at the $2.75 mark.

dimwit - I found a reference to this on alt.consumers.free-stuff. The company apparently posted a message advertising it in that newsgroup.

By the way, if you want one you better hurry -- they are only giving away 10,000 of them!

14.1 display? not even 14.1 inches or 14.1" Also Ultra AYA100 <----laughed my a$$ off on this one?????? Web developer is too damn lazy to get the website right how can you trust this company?

oh but it HAS to be real, it has all those fancy banner ads across the top and down the left, and very few mis-spellings!

(LMAO)

hmmm... I think they forgot a zero or two at the end there...(NOT!) LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
