I went with "agree" because you don't always get what you pay for even if you pay dearly.

I would agree that this is an adage made up by those desperate to cling to the idea that there is some type of balance or justice in the universe. Those who know better realise that if there's a god he hates you and flings feces at you every chance he gets.

Works more accurate the cheaper stuff is. Basically applies only to the low end, up to the mid end, and then gets superflous

I agree. I'll use a popular example: $100 jeans will be superior to $30 jeans, but $600 jeans are no more superior than the $100 item.
