You ever had one of those dreams that feel like a lifetime?

I had one wacky ass dream today. I lived about 3-4 months in the dream and that felt like one.

Crazy. It was epic and long. Also it's vivid. I feel like I just landed back to reality.

Yes. Had a few lucid dreams like that. I often get stuck because when I realize I'm dreaming and "wake up" I am actually still dreaming. After the third or fourth time, I realized that I dreamed of waking up again because I thought of waking up, so I started having deliberate fun "thinking" of other things. ;)

Soon I'll wake back up for real and have to resume my boring life as Jean Luc Picard commanding the USS Enterprise. :(

I've had several dreams like that during my lifetime; dreams where I'm another person in a different life, dreams where I've met and used telepathy to communicate with both alien species and other species here on earth (e.g. dolphins), had a dream where I met a collective entity that was basically an entire planet united spiritually in a hive-mind (think of the equivalent of a telepathic internet of an entire planet that could see into the spirit world), and on top of all that developed a ton of dream-powers (e.g. walking through walls, flight to different planets, changing my body into a will-o-wisp / floating ball of light, using telekinesis, psychokinesis, seeing into the future, etc.).

On top of that I've had dreams where I've seen / communicated with dead people, before finding out they died, dreamed of dead people after they've died that hung around and were trying to get used to the spirit world and guided them along, dreams of hovering over my physical body and understanding that I was a spirit underneath the flesh.

My dreams have been so intense / long at times that I've woken up and wondered which world was the true one; the dream world or the physical world.

I started lucid dreaming when I was around 10-11 years old, and have been lucid dreaming ever since.

Occasionally, maybe once every few years.

It's pretty epic. It's literally like living in a different world for a while. The worst part is usually waking up and realizing that you're back to normal life. :p

You guys ever had a dream that you KNEW you were dreaming? So you go around fulfilling all your sexual & material desires? (Because it still feels good in the dream) ;)

All the people were mad at me in the dream and started to chase me with pitchforks. I literally told them to their face, "YOU DON'T EXIST, I control this world, I am god here! WATCH" Then I mind controlled all of them to just shrug it off and go home.

I have - yes. Lucid dreams are incredible, better than any movie / TV show you could ever possibly imagine. I have even had lucid dreams where I made myself orgasm (e.g. wet dream) since I had full control of my physical body's autonomic functions.

Mind control dreams are fun; I've had lucid dreams where I was able to mentally dominate people that were awake, by essentially battling their willpower and overcoming it with my own (in effect, possessing someone).

I had a lucid dream once that there was an alien ship (flying saucer) that had landed and was using some device to mind control the people around me into not being able to see that they were there, but I had developed psychic defenses in my dreams (in this instance, it was a mirror-like shell that I formed around myself, looking at it from the outside would make it seem like the camouflage that the alien used in the Predator movie) that allowed me to bounce their beam attack off of me and turn it back on them.

After zapping the aliens with their own mental ray from my psychic reversal, I took over their spaceship (when walking on board, I found the controls were directly achieved via connecting telepathically with the ship; there were no physical controls), and was driving it around the earth visiting various places, before I woke up.

I get to that point sometimes, but the instant I realize its real I lose concentration and wake up. I've never actually been able to go far. If I did, I'd treat it basically as Grand Theft Auto: The Dream.

I've never had a lucid dream but it would be cool.

I know what the OP is talking about. The strange ones to me are when you have a dream that spans several hours, then wake up and realize you've been asleep for 5 minutes. Brains are weird.

I could probably write a book of all the weird aliens / entities I've met in my dreams.

Some of the more interesting ones:

* The collective entity I mentioned before; it was the equivalent of if the entire planet earth woke up, spiritually, connected together along with the planet, and formed one giant hive mind. The concept of individuality was akin to a cell in the human body; in other words consciousness flowed from one cell (e.g. person) to another without restraint. The spiritual power of this entity was many times that of every person on earth combined. It seemed this entity was just checking out Earth spirits to see how far along our evolution was; to deal with earth beings would be like a human trying to listen to a bacteria talk, it was simply on an entirely different level than what anybody on Earth could even hope to comprehend.

* Insects belonging to a hive mind, that used technology. They weren't as far along as the first entity, however, their tech was far ahead of Earth tech. They were using strange nanotechnology that was integrated into their exoskeletons; for example they had tiny robots that would crawl along their skin and perform tasks that required more minute focus, and they were linked in via telepathic commands. This "species" wasn't really one species per say, but rather several species that all worked in conjunction in a hive-mind aspect. In other words there was one type of insect that projected the psychic waves and linked together the workers that were nearby (e.g. a "big brain"), that didn't have much in terms of physical functionality (other insects would feed it / take care of it). When I met them in the dream, I exchanged knowledge of this planet / technology and they gave me knowledge of their planet / technology, so it was a trade of knowledge.

Their mechanical devices all worked through telepathy, so they had no need of the massive amounts of wires and such that we use, and they had some way of transmitting power through the air (similar to how Tesla imagined future tech would be like), so this allowed for super small devices. It was really quite fascinating to see their technology in work, given how far ahead of our tech it was; especially given that they allowed the tech to be implanted into their bodies directly - think of it like a telepathic version of the borg, but composed of hundreds of different insect species. They used genetic engineering as well, to create subspecies when needed.

* Giant cloud-sized egregores. These were beings that weren't really formed on their own (e.g. they weren't emergent), but rather a being composed of a bunch of energy dumped into the same spot by enough people believing in the same thing. These things didn't really seem to have a true life of their own, but rather were like giant parasites feeding off of energy emitted by humans, unknowing to the humans themselves.

* Entire crowds full of dead humans / ghosts, people that didn't known that they had died, wandering the spirit world trying to figure out what happened. They created these illusions around them, and weren't able to "wake up" until they figured out for themselves that they died. I found huge crowds of people in some cities and at scenes of big accidents, sometimes they would wander the dream world for years on end, never waking up.

* Higher order beings, I'll call them "Deva" for lack of a better term. These were typically more spiritually advanced beings that were coming to earth to try and help evolve the spirits on this planet more. Some may have once been human, others were likely never humans to begin with.

* Aliens, e.g. the "greys", mentioned above. They used tech that existed in the dreamworld and were able to phase, which allowed them to be completely cloaked from every day detection methods. These were generally mysterious beings from other planets that had better tech than we had, but sometimes it seemed they had nefarious purposes, and generally never seemed interested in psychic communication.

I had a dream once where I lived many years of my life. I remember multiple Thanksgivings, people's birthdays, hanging out with friends, going to work, all that. After I woke up, for a good 5 minutes I seriously could not believe that it wasn't real.

Yeah those types of dreams almost make you feel crazy. I've had dreams where in real time I fell asleep for maybe 10 minutes and woke up feeling like an entire day had passed by in my dream.

Its annoying when I dream that I'm late for work and when I do actually wake up I'm freaking out. Destroys the rest of the day for me.

Vivid dreams like that are the result of endorphins being pumped through your neurons at a massive rate to counteract trauma.

The trauma is likely a parasite--some type of worm burrowing through your brain.

I've met quite a few people in life that have said this and always wondered why some people just don't seem to dream at all.

I actually did dream when I had nicotine patches if I left them on all night. I think it's simply a matter of not "remembering" anything when I wake up, however, from my point of view, it's the same as not dreaming, since I'm not aware of any dreams I've had in my lifetime other than those few weeks with the nicotine patch.

I don't usually remember my dreams. One that stands out happened a few days ago. I was getting chased in the snow by a hostile army(?), and one of the people on my side shot one of the guys with an enormous ballista. The bolt must have been 12' long, with an enormous iron broadhead on it. I was kept running up to a snow bank which presumably had a fortress behind it. I was getting bogged down in the snow, and I looked over my shoulder, and had someone about 100m behind me. When I looked forward, a guy with long bow stepped up, and was going to shoot the guy behind me. That's when I woke up.

Pretty typical stuff I guess, but what's unusual is I remembered it. If I remember a dream, it doesn't usually last longer than a few minutes after waking. I have no idea where the imagery came from. GoT maybe. It was entertaining though, and wouldn't mind having a reprise.

I keep hearing about all this lucid dreaming stuff, but all the tutorials I come across are vague or seem incomplete to me. Would love to try it myself, but I don't seem to have any luck.

How do you manage to reach this level of control, Juddog? Please share :)

I had a lucid dream once of me finally getting revenge on all the popular girls that picked on me in school.

Also I was a pretty girl.

The trick that I used, at least at first, was to create a "bridge" from waking consciousness into sleep.

That bridge, for me, was to look at my hands. Throughout the day I would think that when I look at my hands, and move them, that means I am awake. Before I would go to sleep, I would repeat over and over in my mind "I will look at my hands", similar to the idea of counting sheep. After repeating it enough times, when you finally are asleep and in the dream state, then you remember to look at your hands and BOOM you realize you're dreaming.

Now the first few times this happened to me, I got way too excited; my heart rate picked up along with breathing rate, etc. and I woke up right away. After that it was all about maintaining calm when I looked at my hands - to not get too excited, because the burst of adrenaline will make you wake up right away. This was the tricky part and took practice, but after enough times I could look at my hands, realize that I was dreaming, then start to explore the dream state with a conscious mind.

At first I found simple freedom; I could go anywhere I wanted, look at beautiful scenery, stuff like "wow this is amazing that my mind creates all this stuff, I can't believe how detailed those clouds look", etc.. After a while I started to fold in testing to see if I could expand what I was doing, and started to develop dream powers. It started off with the usual flying / levitation, then after a while almost every dream I wouldn't even bother walking any more, I would just hover over the ground and will myself to move. Then I worked on things like telepathy, trying to communicate with other spirits / dreamers that I ran across in the dream world.

Soon my list continued to expand, such as telekinesis, internal body control (making yourself orgasm and waking up to a wet dream result is always fun, or controlling your endocrine system), "waking up" your brain (physically opening mental channels in your brain that are normally uncontrollable during waking hours), busting through walls, superspeed, faster flight, etc.. Once you realize that in your dream you can do anything you want, you can start to invoke any comic book power idea you've ever read about.

For example, I used to have my goal set to increase my flight speed. Initially I was just hovering / flying slow, later on I got to the point where I could fly from one city to another within a few seconds, after that I set my goal to fly to the moon and walk on the moon. I continued dream after dream to try and reach the moon; one day I willed my hardest to fly as fast as possible to the moon, and instead I wound up in outer space with no frigging clue where the hell I was. Everywhere I looked was just stars. I started to worry about ever finding my way back to my physical body, but then remembered the "trick" - which is to say, remembering any unique feature of any physical object allows you to instantly go to that object.

So I remembered what my nose looked like and made it back to my body, then felt my spirit slam into my body and I woke up. Other times I used the "trick" to get to a location on Earth, since later on I developed the ability to see both the physical and spirit worlds while sleeping, one as a layer which overlapped the other. I recognized that there were many layers, one physical, one spiritual / energy, and one which was more just illusion / created by people / spirits.

After that I started seeing spirits all over the place, people that died, contacted dead relatives to talk with them (if I could find them - some spirits seemed to hang around for days / weeks then disappear forever, no idea where they went). Even my pet cat hung around in the dream world for a few months, and every night when I dreamed, I would pet my cat and hang out with it.

It only gets more bizarre from there; over time my clarity in dreams continued to increase as my lucid dreaming progressed. I found one ability I had was that I could materialize objects, for example if I dreamed of a dog barking, chasing me, I could materialize an iron gate in front of it. I used this materialization power to create a giant telescope of spirit matter so that I could peer off into outer space and observed all kinds of phenomena that was happening in the universe, that was huge, but people on earth couldn't even see, since most people were "blind" in terms of spirit.

At a certain point, a few years ago, it progressed to the point that I was able to travel through outer space regularly. Since then I have visited several planets in other solar systems in my dream form, but no luck so far on encountering intelligent life; the only life I've seen out there so far has been plant-like or fungus-like. That being said, I have seen other alien life forms visit Earth numerous times to talk with me in my dream state, such as what I mentioned above. Other times I find myself helping human spirits who have died, to guide them along in the dream world, or teach other sleeping people new tricks.
