Excellent article. Definitely very interesting. And apparently the author is right in my case: I didn't know jack about disks.
 
As soon as I saw the word "geometry" in relation to data management, I knew I was in over my head. 😱

Hey... not as bad as I thought! 🙂 I didn't see any mention of MFM or RLL or voice coil though.....
 
It was a pretty good article. Though, I think they should have gone into more detail about the GMR effect. That's what's really responsible for the large increase in hard drive capacities over the past several years. /end nitpicking

Bah, deep arrays are easy. Just imagine them as a tree, instead of spacially like a grid (2d), cube (3d), etc.
