You don't bring a gun to a gun fight.

...a street gunfight skit in which live ammunition was accidentally used...
People are so goddamn stupid. Maybe they really should outlaw guns. Something like that should never EVER happen. How do you not check the ammunition before starting? That's not something you forget.

People are fallible. But not gun owners... they never do anything normal humans are prone to.

Normal humans aren't prone to stepping off cliffs because they forgot gravity exists. To my mind that's how important checking the loads in your gun before pointing it at someone and pulling the trigger is. It would literally feel that urgent to me in their situation. I'd probably check it 2-3 times before I felt comfortable enough to go through with the reenactment, just because.

(sorry, that was just begging for this response, and it's a proper response to you that I think you can relate to.)

Uh...yes they do...more so in the FB generation. People falling off cliffs during pictures every other month.

You mean like getting hit by someone out to kill them? If that guy hadn't swerved into them they would have safely made it past.

If you don't want to be painted with a broad brush and associated with the douchebags who weave through traffic at freeway speeds, and race through my neighborhood streets, then don't do it yourself. We should probably be on a look out for you to get together with your biker friends to block freeway traffic and terrorize car drivers, too.

Let's try to keep this on topic.

Why am I not surprised this happened in Arizona? You would think there would be some kind of law enforcement oversight or regulation regarding staged "shootouts" in public places.

This. I'm really sick of the anecdotal gun arguments. A successful defense of a life with a gun gets crickets (unless it's by cops or military), but one idiot has an accident and somehow it makes national news and indicts tens of millions of gun owners.

My sister is like this too. I once talked with her about an article where a tragic dumbass forgot to clear his chamber before cleaning his Glock and shot himself during dis-assembly (violating two major gun safety rules), and died. I basically went off on how stupid the guy was. Her reaction was "don't judge, it happens to everyone." My response: "No, it doesn't."

How do you know there was not? If there was law enforcement oversight or regulation regarding staged shootouts and yet this still happened, would your mind melt down from the fact that somehow it still happened?

Their website shows they've been incorporated since 1954 as a non-profit charity and have been re-enacting seemingly multiple times a week. I'm going to go ahead and bet you that they do have permission from the local government to do their shows.

This news story shows that they have an inspection protocol that the shooter may have arrived late and bypassed it. It looks pretty cut and dry that he, as well as anyone who may have known he bypassed the safety protocols was negligent. They should have had dedicated weapons for the re-enactment that wouldn't be at risk of being loaded with live ammunition or dummy guns that aren't able to fire live ammunition though. That won't stop people like you from coming in and getting your comments regarding gun owners in so that you can look like a total asshole though. Was that on topic enough?

Pretty negligent on his part bringing live ammunition to a gig like that.

I kind of have to agree with you on that.

I don't see the issue with live ammunition. What I see the issue with is whether they used blanks or not.

My VPN seems to have an issue with their BS site security. Seems to think I'm a bot or something. LOL

Synopses?

street gunfight re-enactment. one guy showed up late and didn't have his gun checked for live ammo by the armorer. shot off 5 rounds hitting one guy badly, a second guy not so badly, and a few buildings.

To be fair it was still a re-enactment just a little more realistic than they bargained for :awe:
