You do realize that Ron Paul published a series of racist newsletters, right?

"younger days" as defined as when he was in his 20's, or is it when he was in his 40's? The newsletters came out in the 1990's, when he would be in his 40's.

Ron Paul is 76 so in the 90's he would have been 55 or older, an age at which most people don't change anymore.

Richard Nixon during Watergate denied his role giving the same consistent answer every time. Just like Ron Paul does today.

But as the investigations proceeded and the final Nixon tapes came out, it became impossible to deny Nixon had been lying all the time.

So earth to SlithD, there is no virtue to be found in being a consistent liar.

But maybe point granted, as this is just the early stage of a possible Ron Paul scandal that would absolutely disqualify him from being President if true, maybe we should reserve some judgment until better proof emerges.

Meanwhile Ron Paul denials give us no real information. Because if ole Ron is guilty as charged, he has no choice but to deny it.

Democrats already have a near monopoly on race-based politics. No party in history has been more apt in using racism to garner votes for racists.

Well that does it. I guess Obama will now get all the black vote.

Wait...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which shows spidey stinking thinking in its true light. If the charges against Ron Paul prove true, Ron Paul will numerically lose more white support than merely black support he had little of to start with.

As wait, as another spidey touted 2012 POTUS candidate, loses all credibility among American voters across the voting spectrum. But cheer up spidey, Bull Conner is still alive, and dare I say Ron Paul can count on at least one vote. And a whole two if we count you.

But to get elected, ole Ron needs 50% or bust.

Libertarians running for office is silly in itself. Why? Libertarianism is way beyond the mainstream of modern Western political thought. It will take re-education for the US or any other Western society to be fully libertarian.

And Ron Paul is 76? he is too old to stand for office. I don't agree with a minimum age for POTUS, but a maximum age, yes, subject to health/mental tests.

No, it doesn't. Any backwards country can have 'economic liberty' for a few who own everything while the rest of society is an economic slave if they're lucky.

I watched a documentary tonight on a part of Indonesia where the people make twice the national average by working as sulfur miners. It's the only way for them to not be in basic starvation mode. They walk for hours a day to get to an active volcano that produces the sulfur, where they hope there's enough for them to carry nearly 200 pounds climbing the cliffs of volcano, few of them reaching 40 because of breathing the toxic sulfur fumes constantly, with a high level of casualties from things like falling in the acid pool from the cliffs. They get paid 2.5 Euro cents per pound for the day's load - a few Euros. The company who pays them only for what they deliver with no safety requirements keeps 35 cents profit per pound.

Most of the miners have never seen a doctor, none have gas masks.

They're good Libertarians - practicising economic liberty, where the people are used and thrown away and paid so little, while those above make more and a few are very rich.

There's no government in sight. Liberty!

None of the media is actually claiming that he wrote it that I have seen. They are all just claiming it got published. And he is saying yes, I was a publisher, and it got published under my watch, and I am guilty of allowing that to happen.

I don't see where the comparison to Watergate comes from.

Speaking of Watergate, what are your thoughts on Liddy?

In a Republican primary a little bit of racism only helps in the polls. The status quo is going to have to come with some new stuff to slow down Ron Paul's momentum. Iowa really doesn't mean much of anything, but for those few days after heaven and hell will unite in destroying Ron Paul. We will find Republicans shamed by Ron Paul's American righteousness. Let them welt away into the shadows into the arms of racists, zionists, war pornographers, and the rest of sad, sorry status quo...

Excuse me - you are the liar. I said this was about a specific part of Indoniesia, where in fact it says none of the miners have gas masks.

I dind't say 'no miner anywhere has a gas mask', contrary to your false insinuation.

So, you miss the point of the horrible situation for the people I'm talking about, and you lie.

To start with SlithD, various videos are already surfacing from 1996, showing Ron Paul was well aware that various bigots were using his name and Ron Paul was proud of the fame it brought him.

As for my comparisons to Ron Paul and Nixon, if you fail to understand it, there is something wrong with you.

As for G. Gordan Liddy, he did the crime and did the time. But when Liddy emerged as a hero to right wing republicans, it speaks volumes about what is still wrong with the radical right wing of the GOP. Otherwise my opinions of Liddy can not be printed in polite society.

But still point granted SlithD, its early yet in the Ron Paul scandal, when the final evidence comes in, I suspect any Ron Paul plausible denial will become impossible to deny.

Meanwhile Ron Paul dangles dangles slowly in the wind.

Well, even today Ron Paul states if a racist group endorses him and sends him money, they are subscribing to his ideas, and accepting the money and publicity doesn't mean he is subscribing to their ideas.

I know that you understand the difference. But a lot of people are incapable of such logic.

I also know that you do not support Ron Paul, which is fine.

And point taken, also, time will tell if there is more lurking beneath the surface or not.

I have read similar articles, and found them fascinating. To be clear, the masks in that image are not gas masks (the one in the background certainly isn't), and my understanding is that the sulfur harvesters in Indonesia do not wear protective gear that provide adequate protection against the fumes they must breathe in order to gather sulfur for a living.

LOL.

You do realize this stuff is 20-30 years old, isn't very racist, and has not been proven that he wrote them...

You do also realize that the establishment has been telling everybody for weeks that newt gingrich is the front runner and he's a complete slime ball who's being exposed even more now.. .right?

You do know that Gingrich has said far more racist things in the last 2 weeks than anything in these 20-30 year old newsletters, right?

PS: We've already had a couple threads about this... way to miss the boat.

he allowed his name to be attached the newsletter, whether or not he wrote the articles. He was the publisher and had final say as to what went into it.

If somebody else wrote it and it just has his name on there I don't see how anybody could pin it all on him...

Most of it wasn't racist anyhow. The only part I found to be slightly racist was the comment " The animals are coming". referring to black youths. But at the same time I'd also be willing to accept a certain context for that to be used if describing the bound for prison black youth in our country.

You know.. the ones who walk around in groups w\ their pants sagging, assaulting and robbing people.. etc. Referring to such groups as animals could be fitting as long as it wasn't being applied to the entire race.
