I haven't seen ANYONE that discourages against it. Everyone seems to love the car..It looks like a solid car with a nice new look to boot...

Anyone wanna give me some real actual pros and cons? I'm thinking of buying a nice preowned one (the redesigned is a must.. which yr was that?)

It's a nice car... but it costs more than your Camry/Accord with the same options.

At least it will put a smile on your face when you drive it. The Camrey is so000ooo boring. The accord is not too bad, but you got to spend some tall cash to make it seem fast - meaning at least a V6.

Yeah, you're only hope for a preowned would be a demo. Even that isn't going to be that much less. I personally don't like the Altima, the back bothers me. That, and it seems that everyone is buying them so their uniqueness is depleting. I really want to get a Mini just for the fact that you rarely see one on the road.

2002 was the big overhaul but from what I've heard, the interior was vastly improved for 2003.

yea but doesn't it have about 25+ HP with same options? (traditional 150HPs vs a nice 175 boost)
how does that affect in real driving? is it noticable?

(don't know much about cars..)

Go take a test drive in both, and tell us what you think.;)

It's nice, and I know you may want a new car but let me tell you this: we were going to buy a new Altima and for $21k you get a base one with a couple things in it like leather; alternatively I found, for $22.5k, a fully loaded 2002 maxima with an extended warranty already bought and a mere 16k miles on it. I'm now convinced that the maxima is about 15X better than the altima. A few bucks more, and slightly used, but already had the extended warranty with a crapload more horsepower, and much more luxuriuos. I like the altima a lot but its interior is a royal piece of junk.

Before you get the Altima, go test drive and sit in one first... Initially I thought the Altima was a great car.... but after I went and sit in it I felt the interior was very disappointing... The plastic finish looks very cheap... didnt like it at all...

Other than that everything else looks great... Love the exterior look, and the price is unbeatable...

Personally, I'd wait another 6 months for the new Mazda 6's to hit the lots. Then compare.

Damn, I was able to test drive a V6 Altima, fully loaded a few months ago.. and I'm 18. All they wanted was a copy of my license. I told them my mom was looking for a new car, and it was one of her choices.. She actually was looking for a new car, but we scored a used '98 A6 for 15k.

Why not go for a '98-'2001 Altima. They go for real cheap now and are built great. They have a better quality interior than the 2002 (if thats your thing), they are reasonably fast, and have a smooth ride and extremely comfortable/reliable. Also they are cheap to buy.

Yeah, but you are not driving the current model. The current model owns the old one in everything but price. Besides the old one is fugly

I would recommend the Maxima. Either the current one or the one with 222hp. I doubt you will find any used current model Altima. The maxima should be pretty cheap (even a brand new one) since the 2004 model is coming in like 8 months. I saw the Mazda 6 and it looks awesome. You seem to be on a budget, so I think you should check out the Maxima.

It depends on the dealership. One of the dealerships in my old hometown just put the keys in all the cars. They locked them of course. But you just grabbed a salesmen and ask him to open it up, then you can take it. Other places have you fill out forms, etc. The place that I got my car just made a copy of my dl.
