You can't cut waste and fraud by firing auditers.

You want to cut spending by reducing fraud and abuse ? Then you have to hire more auditors, accountants, FBI, IRS agants, etc.

You don't do it by cross the board cuts.

Just a FYI why the idiotic ideas of ther Tea Party/GOP won't work, which they know but they know who their audience is..

If you have an article or study to show, I'd like to think it would help prove your point. But I think most of us are well aware that nothing that occurs in reality has much sway on the thinking of the tea partiers.

So, we need big government to save us from ourselves?

possibly, but that isn't my point. make the government as small as you want, but do it honestly.

My point is any politician who advocates cutting spending with simplistic ideas like across the board spending, doesn't deserve anyone's vote.

Same thing with vouchers. It's possible to have a sensible voucher proposal, but pretty much any time you here about vouchers from a politician, it's just a tactic to avoid dealing with reality, not something that deserves to be rewarded.

I agree with the OP here, in terms of illegal immigrants and Medicare fraud, arrests are way up under Obama compared to GWB&co and almost all previous presidents.

We have had threads on this forum demonstrating that Obama&co is doing at least 50-60% better in terms of delivering actual results. And actual results are always better than merely loudly complaining and doing nothing effective thereafter.

much of the improvement seems to be due to the practice, started here in harris county by sheriff adrian garcia, of checking status of people booked into jail. as it has been adopted across the country more and more criminals are being deported.

(on a tangential note, the article claims deportations are up 10% near the top of the article. it then gives you the numbers in a handy chart. based on the numbers, deportations are up 5%. can someone ever check math?)

Possible voluntary vs involuntary deportation

Or those that have been ordered vs those that are actaully expelled

I work at a community college and we have several agencies that audit what we are doing. Our key thing for holding costs down is the ability to apply for grants for thing like technology and buildings, and beating the bushes for donations from businesses that we cooperate with. That is how we built our new Nursing Building. Somehow they sweettalked some hospital out of a few million so we could get our project going. Now we have one of the best facilities for nursing in the State of Illinois. Fund-Raising success really helps in the area of education.
