You can "uninstall IE" but you need it to run Windows Update..

If you want to update your system you need to have it installed.

Seems kinda fishy to me.

a lot of MS stuff uses IE to render things. Therefore uninstalling IE ruins a lot of functionality of windows, though you dont NEED it, not having it cripples things.

doesnt windows update install a checker anyway on its first run through? seems to me you shouldnt need IE to run it because its already installed what it needs on your machine.

Yeah but new updates come out all the time, and with out IE you cannot get them
