It seems like most, or all with the exception of Paulie D, are not just playing other people's music but are at least sampling, if not creating their own music outright.

I can't believe I watched that whole video though. It looked like it was two interns reading from a script.

I guess if you're good enough. But look at it this way. How many deejays are there in the world? Hundreds? Thousands? Ten-Thousand?

Only a small selection make that type of money. :(

I bet these guys started at a very young age, and they probably spend hours perfecting their craft. They don't spend time browsing the internet, and playing video games.

If you're dropping the bass like Deadmou5, maybe. Definitely not if you're DJing weddings or working at a radio station.

Yep and you can make mad money being a professional gamer, artist, musician, and actor too! I don't know why everyone isn't doing it....

Most of the bigger DJ's out there are also producers, BUT, people who write, produce, engineer, etc. don't make money like the did 40 years ago. Live shows... basically "promoting" is where all the money is at.

As in all things, money like that only goes to the top 1% of the top 1%. You have to be sick and know how to build connections, but one thing you don't necessarily need is time. Honestly shit is mostly luck, but these guys probably work pretty hard. I'd imagine those European relics listed don't do shit. It's just their brand at this point.

true, but many have paid their dues. guys like Tiesto/AvB have been doing this for the better part of 2 decades.

Hey, if your audience is already dumping millions on coke, pills and whatever else they can get high off of, they will surely splurge on some "quality" tunes.

If the recipe for ecstasy ever got lost... these guys would be homeless.
