Returned the Laptop.

Decided to keep my Latitude.

Loved the new one, just wasn't worth the upgrade cost and I don't need to game on my laptop. I MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer the keyboard on my Latitude, and its backlit.

For what you do, I say go for it. Looks like the product page says 8GB is the max supported for that model.

I'd even suggest going a step further and putting in 8GB of DDR3-1600. Llano's iGPU performance is somewhat dependent on the memory clock, and mobile Llano should support 1600MHz.

(desktop benchmark, but relevant to a degree)

From what I read today, only the MX series of A8's support 1600. Mine is just the "M" model which is 1333. Wasn't aware of this, but it probably isn't a huge difference.

8GB is the max? Kinda surprising. Not that I would need more.

I think it only came with 1066, will check in a couple hours when Im home.

Those AMD APU's are good, enjoy your new toy.

How are the fans on that HP? Do they get noisy under full load? How hot does the laptop gets when playing games?

It does not get noisy at all, least for me so far, so I haven't had to look at temps yet. I'm sure it has a cheap cooling setup though.
My
laptop sits on this 90% of the time.

I will install hwinfo64 tonight and see what the temps are and get back to you.

Turns out the laptop came with mismatched memory.

2GB of hynix DDR3 1600

4GB of A-Data DDR3 1333

Laptop runs at 1333 --- Confirmed you need a "MX" APU to get 1600.

Only thing I really wish it had was a Backlit Keyboard. I can't seem to find one available for it.

Bonus!

Discovered you can overclock these using Kstat10

I seem to be completely stable at 2.5GHz so far with all 4 cores (stock 1.6Ghz)

Temps have increased, as has fan speed required, but nice to have the ability of adding some juice when you do want to play a few games.
