Huh, didn't realized they finally replaced WME with the expression encoder. WME was certainly getting long in the tooth...hopefully not too many features have been stripped out though.

Yeah, WMM has supported different encoding profiles for a long time. Like the article above shows, you just needed to be able to create those profiles and place them in the correct place. I always been irritated that you couldn't define advanced settings within WMM. At least the workaround seem to still be supported with the 'Live' versions.

edit: Looks like Expression Editor 4's new preset format is an XML file...so definitely going to need WME to create/adjust WMM profiles. That said, after playing with MEE a little, it seems really nice and works pretty well.

Hi,

In order to get the Custom Output setting, simply, install the latest beta version from http://beta.live.com released on AUG 17 2010!

The follow these steps:

Save a movie using your custom setting in Windows Live Movie Maker Steps:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Click the Start button , click All Programs, click Windows Live, and then click Windows Live Movie Maker.

2.In Windows Live Movie Maker, on the Home tab, in the Add group, click Add videos and photos, select the photos or videos you want to use in your movie, and then click Open.

3.On the Home tab, in the Sharing group, click the More button, and then click your custom setting under Custom settings.

4.Now set the Video dimensions and Audio settings of the video setting that you're trying to make.

5.In the File name box, type a file name, and then click Save.

6.Click Play to play your movie in your media player.
