You Are Witnessing The Beginning Of A Mass Shooting,..

What Would Happen?

  • I would fire one shot, taking out the shooter. Bang.

  • I would fire a few shots, take out the shooter. Bang, bang.

  • I would fire a few shots, take out the shooter and hit a few people. Bang, bang, whoops.

  • I would probably knock him off his feet by emptying all my rounds. Then I would run.

  • Same as 4 and hit a few people.

  • Nothing, I would just run.

  • I am a raging moron.

You: have a handgun (concealed, in it's holster). No additional clips magazines, just the one in your gun. Safety is on. No body armor. Feel free to run through the gamut of best handguns (ones you have, used, know of),... because,..

Shooter: just one. Shooter has body armor - chest, legs some sort of helmet with visor. Something like this:
interceptor-deltoid-image1.jpg

An automatic rifle Weapons (see below) + clips magazines (tactical vest). A few side strapped handguns with a duffel bag. There could be more guns, ammo or explosives in there, you aren't sure. But, you've observed the above.

Here is a combo / make up of what the shooter could have - you take your picks - the point being, he is has guns, lots of 'em;
- semi-automatic handgun(s)
- rile(s)
- shot gun(s)
- revolver(s)

The shooter is about 70 feet from you. You are in a public area with little to no cover. There are about 30 or so people sprinkled around you. And, no one is between you and the shooter - BUT, there are a few people behind yourself and the shooter.

What do you believe will happen? Base it on what you would do and expect would occur.

Edit: this is a shooting. Whatever you need to indicate this is a shooting is happening; shooting at you, shooting at people, screaming they will shoot, etc.

Edit 2: making it clear this isn't medieval times,.. yes, someone went there.

Edit 3: I am leaving the poor automatic rifles alone.

#5.

I don't see a hand gun stopping someone armed to the teeth and armored. And, I fear I would probably hit a few people as well.

The only thing I would hope is that it slows the shooter down a bit and the police would handle once they arrive. Or, someone else is armed and they finish the shooter off.

well according to TV shows, you just shoot him in the foot where he isn't armored and limit his mobility

Drop prone making it harder to hit me. Shoot him in the neck with a single shot. Im assuming since i have concealed carry im a pretty good shot and have practiced a lot. In my real life i have no gun and would probably suck with one lol

Where is the, "I'm Clint Eastwood. I would pull out my .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and blow his head clean off" option?

I'm not a cop. I'd leave and call the cops.

A hitting a protected target at 70 feet would be risky at best.

Closer...20-30 feet, MAYBE.

Whip out my iPhone and film in shaky portrait mode. Maybe I'd use the slo-mo for added effect.

Shoot and run. There won't be any heroics expect for maximizing my own chances of survival.

Pull out my Samurai sword and run at him screaming and flailing wildly with it slicing his head clean off in the process.

Then, all the hot chicks in class would throw themselves at me for wild group sex.

I'd probably only draw my weapon if he turned his attention to me. It would endanger the people behind him and me to engage him immediately, and with an automatic weapon and body armor he would be likely to win a firefight anyway. The thing to do is go for whatever cover there is and attempt to notify the authorities. Once all that is done perhaps I look for a safe opportunity to engage the shooter. If he's actively firing on people already I might be tempted to fire my weapon at him from cover just to cause him to disengage from them, assuming the people who were behind him have cleared out once the shooting started.

So I am carrying 1 of these?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauser_C96

That's the only pistol I know that uses a clip. And I likely wouldn't be carrying one of those.

not enough info, but in that scenario, most likely run for cover and/or concealment.

How do I know this is the beginning of a mass shooting? Is he holding the rifle and/or making threatening motions or saying anything threatening? Is this an open carry state? Maybe he's just on his way to the range or to an airsoft tournament, or getting dinner?

Is he facing me or facing away?
Does the armor cover his back also?

70 feet is like 23 yards.

I'm guessing I would scream Allah Akbar and shoot a bystander to confuse the hell out of the shooter, then use my gun to threaten the people behind me into forming a human shield so I could escape amidst all the chaos. I'm not your hero.

I'd pick up a few corpses and use them as shields as I charge the shooter.

Because movies have taught me that a human body is an impenetrable wall against bullets even at point blank range.

70 yards is a long fucking ways to shoot with a pistol. I'm running/hiding for my life. I'm realistic. My CCW isn't to be a hero, it is to defend myself.

My background: I have a CCW and carry about 90% of the time I am out of my house. Since it is a ccw, it is a smaller, compact weapon that is designed to conceal, not precision shots. 90% of the time, it is an M&P 9mm shield, 9% of the time an M&P 9mm compact, 1% of the time, a 10mm Glock 20. I take about 3-5 multi-day training courses a year and compete in USPSA and IDPA about once every two months. I'd probably be uncomfortable with any shots beyond 15 yards in a real life situation.

Yes. Anything that indicates the shooter is about to start gunning down people. The shooter has shot at few people. Already shot at you. Whatever. This is a shooting - period. Not looking to pontificate over what constitutes as a shooting or not - it's a shooting. The question is what would you do.

Is this an open carry state?
This is a shooting. Not someone expressing their right to bear arms and dress in Call of Duty perk items. This is a shooting.

Maybe he's just on his way to the range or to an airsoft tournament?
No, it's a shooting.

or getting dinner?
Maybe after the shooting, if the shooter lives.

Is he facing me or facing away?
Facing you. Please note, this is a shooting.

Does the armor cover his back also?
Yes. And, this is a shooting.

70 feet is like 23 yards.
Yes. Also, this is a shooting.

If two answers are similar, pick the best one, hence raging moron is the correct choice.
