So three months ago, I was a victim of a hit-n-run incident...
Upon returning to my parked car, I noticed a dent on my bumper and a notice left on my windshield. The notice was from a witness that had a description stating that a beeyotch in a newer model red mustang hit me and took off. Also left on the notice was the bitch's plate number.
Unfortunately the witness did not leave any contact info.

OK according to the cops and my insurance company, this just means that I won't be able to press criminal charges, but I should still be able to get bitch's insurance to pay up.

So I file a police report right away, and nothing happens for over a month. After two weeks, I call multiple detectives regarding my case and none of them ever picks up or returns my call when I leave a message. I also filed a claim with my insurance company for them to deal with this.

A month later, a detective finally returns a call and tells me that they can run a plate search from the DMV and get the insurance info.
My insurance company tells me that they have also run the plates at the DMV.

As of today, I never got a call back from the detective, and the insurance company just told me that their request from the DMV was ignored and they're closing the case on this.

Yeah, so if you run into someone in the parking lot, you're pretty safe if you take off even if there are plenty of witnesses ready to report your ass.

With all the illegals driving around uninsured, fake plates, no license. They police don't really even investigate hit n runs anymore unless someone is dead.

Pretty much. Thats why I hate driving in Manassas. Too many illegals and apparently, too many Americans who dont care about insurance.

You're the adrenaline junkie, you should go chase her down. Or would that interrupt your epic slumber?

How hard could it be? Run a plate search... check to see if the car on the record for the plates matches the description of the car from the witness.

I don't see why this should take longer than 2 fucking minutes.

0/10... that didn't even make sense.
Fuck yeah I'd chase her down if the DMV would run the fucking plates to give me her personal info.

The cost of hunting down the other driver/insurance has to justify the damage.

How much for your damages? Sounds like it wasn't too bad. Typically if the adjuster has to do anything beyond searching for info from a handful of databases, they have to hire a local PI. Even a couple of hours of a PI's time looking into this for MAYBE getting the other driver's info is likely too expensive given your damages.

Whose to say the jackass who hit you isn't the one who wrote the note? Sounds like a pretty simple idea to me...

"Whoops hit a car, better leave some info. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to leave my OWN info though, so I'll just use this car's info right here. *writes down first license plate I see* There we go, who will ever know?"
