So three months ago, I was a victim of a hit-n-run incident...
Upon returning to my parked car, I noticed a dent on my bumper and a notice left on my windshield. The notice was from a witness that had a description stating that a beeyotch in a newer model red mustang hit me and took off. Also left on the notice was the bitch's plate number.
Unfortunately the witness did not leave any contact info.
OK according to the cops and my insurance company, this just means that I won't be able to press criminal charges, but I should still be able to get bitch's insurance to pay up.
So I file a police report right away, and nothing happens for over a month. After two weeks, I call multiple detectives regarding my case and none of them ever picks up or returns my call when I leave a message. I also filed a claim with my insurance company for them to deal with this.
A month later, a detective finally returns a call and tells me that they can run a plate search from the DMV and get the insurance info.
My insurance company tells me that they have also run the plates at the DMV.
As of today, I never got a call back from the detective, and the insurance company just told me that their request from the DMV was ignored and they're closing the case on this.
Yeah, so if you run into someone in the parking lot, you're pretty safe if you take off even if there are plenty of witnesses ready to report your ass.
