False Positives happen. Just at work the other day I had NAV Corporate (older version, latest definitions) jump up and down about a trojan in a Forum I was browsing, now I admin this forum, and it has no ads. I saved the HTML locally, and NAV jumped up and down about it there too. I opened it and looked at all the code, and there was NOTHING out of the ordinary about it, nor did NAV 2003 at home think it anything out of the ordinary. NAV 7 jumped up and down, NAV 2003 said all was good.

It's a flaw of virus scanners, some viruses can be tricky and change, so they write virus scanners that look for 'similar' peices of code, even if they don't do anything mallicious, or really anything at all. The other end of it is though, if you did get a virus, and it wasn't picked up by your virus scanner, you'd be up in arms about how you paid money for a product that doesn't work.

If you are "fully aware" of what a false positive is, why did you post this?
HOW THE F**K IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO KNOW A F***ING FALSE POSITIVE THE SECOND IT HAPPENS JERK!!!!!! Who the hell are you; James Van Prauge, John Edward, The Amazing Kreskin?????
Jesus christ man just SHUT UP ALREADY!
How 'bout YOU shutting up????? This bull$h!t was over for me DAYS ago but you jerks had to go and start $h!t over it!!!!!
The fact of the matter is that you started this thread, and it's been resolved
Yes, I AGREE, TOTALLY!! And resolved DAYS ago! So why did you feel the need to join in and attack me, and re-open it?????
MSblaster is a WORM, NOT A TROJAN.
And no one said anything to the contrary either!!!

....and therefore make the Trojan horse ineffective Sounds to me that's not getting infected since a FW can block them.

Seeing virus/worm/Trojan activity is a common daily occurrence on Windows PC's with IE and OE on them.

A DAILY occurrence? Uh no. Did you even see the infection number of js_fortnight on Symantec's security response? It was 0-49. THE LOWEST rating! I've never got a single virus/worm/Trojan in my entire LIFE!
Exactly. A daily occurrence. And no one made any specific mention of any specific worm/virus/Trojan. I don't see any mention of any name in my quote.

Mind explaining how exactly it would work in Internet Explorer?
An HTML formatted email is the same thing as a webpage; both use HTML language. What can be done to the content of any HTML formatted email can be done to a webpage.
