Ha! $1000 isn't enough for a grad class. My one grad class this semester (at a state school) was $2200.

Having an additional $1k is completely relative. If you're the kind of person with a good paying job who saves, then having another $1k in the bank doesn't change anything. If you live paycheck to paycheck or have a low paying job, then having an extra $1k is a big deal.
