By the time I was 23 (1991), I had an established career, working 60 - 80 hours a week, had 2 cars that were paid for, bought a house, paying a house note, married and had 2 children.

As compared to today, kids either go into retail and make a lousy wage, or go to college and build up some kind of massive student loan debt.

I think it might be a changing of the times, but todays kids seem to have little to no patriotism. I do not know how many times I have heard kids say "joining the military is throwing your life away".

I also think todays kids are lazy. Most of them would rather sit at home and play Xbox, then to get a job, buy a house, and establish a family of their own.

I really think you over-estimate how much we care...

He's not talking about a specific generation though, just people that are around that age in general.

Oo, I didn't watch the video(though I think i've seen it before), I was going off people's comments. It's in the same boat though, the "elders" never think the young people know anything, while the young people are usually the more intelligent ones. As screwed up as the world is, we are still progressing

Louis CK is my favorite current comedian. His show was a little weird this year but his standup almost always delivers a great balance between comedy and insight.

I like him too and you're the 2nd person to say that about his show. I watched the series like one after another and I really didn't see that much of a difference.

Kids said the same thing 25 years ago, as did I... until my car broke down, I had no way to get to my dead-end photo lab job, and the Army recruiter called offering me an $8,000 bonus to be an intel linguist. I joined. I was only on active duty for three years, but it was absolutely worth doing.

It's true. Most 18-25 year olds are living in a world that they have no idea about. You gotta start somewhere though. What pisses older folks off is how cocksure they are at the same time as having no idea wtf they're doing. I remember being like that. I honestly thought that every half-baked assessment I made of the world had to be correct because of the simple fact that I was the one that made it. It's madness when viewed from a position of more experience, but everyone goes through it to varying degrees.

Louis C.K is just an awesome comedian. If you haven't go on netflix and watch his standup routine "all chewed up", it's one of the funniest ones I've seen in a long time. Also the first season of his show Louie is up there, and it's pretty good as well.

omg..you just described my 19 year old son...

$10/hr job as an auto-tech - he says his job sucks, most of the people he works with sucks, and complains he has to keep his work area clean/tidy.

I think kids are getting the wrong impression about the military or think they'll automatically be sent to a war zone

This. There are no universal milestones or checkpoints in life, everyone desires different things.

I just threw my asshole self entitled lazy ass nephew out of my elderly parents house 3 days ago. I wouldn't say most kids his age are the same but there are a lot of them. Of course when I was 20 a 1 bedroom apt in the Bay Area only cost $125 a month and there were jobs a plenty were you could easily cover rent, car payment, food and utilities plus a little left for entertainment. It's not as easy these days for the youngsters but then it wasn't easy for my parents generation until after WWII.

Kids just seem to think that a) the world is black & white, everything has a right and wrong answer b) their opinions are right and so full of themselves, they don't even consider they might be wrong c) are complete a-holes to anyone who disagrees in any way, regardless of subject

As for the patriotism, I'd disagree with that to a certain extent. I'd all but guarantee most kids would not want to live in another country. However, too many just seem to think that the world owes them more than they are getting (which is laughable) and will complain about things not being given to them rather than going out and earning it themselves.
