Yoshi's New Island 3DS coming

The 3D aspect of the game might be fun, but Yoshi Island was my least favorite Mario game. Hopefully they tone down the whole baby crying part. In the original I would sometimes jump in a hole, when I couldn't reach mario, just so I wouldn't hear the incessant crying.

It was definitely annoying, but it certainly made me be careful and get to Mario ASAP so he'd shut up.

The world needs more Baby Mario dammit!

I think Nintendo is recycling a lot of older games to cash in on the current retro fad. Though it really does scream "we're out of ideas". Good god, what's going to happen when Miyamoto retires?

I'll repost what I said in another thread. While I was mostly thinking of the remade/releases of older games on the newer console, it's applicable to their "lack of ideas" in general:

My perspective on this changed over the holidays, at least regarding Nintendo's pattern of re-releasing old games on new systems. My buddy has a neice who loves everything Zelda. For Christmas she got a huge Hyrule encyclopedia which she wanted to take everywhere, even the restaurants. Without all these re-releases she'd have no easy way of playing the zelda games, so she'd be missing out on a lot. So... I guess I get it. These rereleased games aren't meant for us, they're meant for our kids.

We loved these games as kids. IMO Nintendo is still aiming for the same age group, but those of us who grew up feel left out and want something new.

Looks like there are new levels, enemies, powerups, and bosses. I think Yoshi's Island had some of the best bosses in any platformer, so yay for that.

I never did play the original. I'll keep an eye on this one and see how it looks at release. It's still a few months off.

I'd be wary about buying the game. The DS Yoshi's Island was pretty lackluster, and this one is made by the sames devs (but with a more proven producer).
