Yonah supported by 915PM chipset?

HI, I currently own an XPS Gen2 Inspiron laptop and my question is, has anybody heard any rumors or read any articles on whether the 915PM Intel chipset will support the new dual core pentium M "Yonah" cpus? I want to purchase one and install it in my notebook once it has been released. Thanks

Kinda hard to know this far in advance, don't know what packaging(socket) they will use, and no idea what chipsets they will work with, but Intel generaly seems to make you get a board with a new chipset for new products.

They couldn't (or didn't want to) get Dual Core desktops to work with the 945s, why would you think that Yonah would work with a older chipset? Intel's track record isn't the greatest for this kinda stuff, at least recently. (I still  my 440BX)

Yonah is due to be dual core, 667 fsb and new chipset. You might get a single core version released which is compatable but it will be a celeron

ok, just curious to know why touch systems seems to be advertising 915Pm systems with Yonah (not released yet)

Hmm. I just got a free crappy dell Ispiron 1200 free from one of my credit card rewards. Came with a pathetic Celeron M 360. It was free and has only a 90 day warranty so I said what the hell, and popped in a pentium M 1.7ghz and another 512meg ddr stick and even with its onboard graphics I can now play NFSU2. Not bad for a freebie. I actually got over 5500 in 3dmark 2001SE. Cant beat free. I wonder if the vid is upgradable. That would be sweet. Anyway, gave it to my 11 year old son to use. It has a 915 chipset so now I am interested just like you. 🙂

I don't think the bus speed on a laptop can be changed. Can it? Anyway, I think I read somewhere that Yonah will be Socket 480. Dunno how legit that is and I doubt it.
