Yonah and Merom pin compatible?

Will merom be easily dropped into the current yonah socket and the current intel chipset? Will it require a bios upgrade from the notebook manufacturer?

I think Merom will need the 965 chipset to be utilize all of its features, but I have heard that it will be using the current 945 chipset when it is released later this year and that you would be able to replace a yonah chip with a merom provided you have a bios update.
