A friend of my brother was trying to take-off out of Atlanta on tuesday morning. Once they closed the airports, he and 3 friends were stranded in ATL trying to get home. They had an idea. They found a taxi driver to drive them from Atlanta to Tampa. :Q The fare was $1100 and change. ;)

Well 4 ppl that's about 275 per person. That's not that bad... but the ride must suck... and 5 ppl in one car, yikes. And it's a taxi on top of that.

I thought this would be a topic on Taxi in NY. As you might know, most Taxi drivers in NY are from the Middleeast/indian country. Will they dare to go out and work. Mind you I don't think those that are in US share the feeling of those who did this to us. But from reading some of the response here in this forum, I would be fearful if I was them.

I just hope everyone have some sense in them to know better then to blame an entire race for the action of few.

I drive a cab and can tell you that that happens often, almost once a week for me as far as going from like Providence to New York. Its not only when there are no trains and such, sometimes peole just can't wait. I find it stupid but it makes me a lot of money.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to rent a car???

<< you can rent a car for less than that!!

There were no rental cars available.
>>

We ended up giving cars to over 1000 people that day, and we still had some on the lot, it was quite a wait on a car approx 3hrs

I heard something similar. 4 guys had a taxi take them from Chicago to LA. Cost like $4500!
Also people were just buying used cars instead of trying to rent them because they were all out of rentals.
