I was just about running out of my last SEARS CD-R's. I happen to stoll through their Electronics dept today and happen to ask what price the Maxell 50pk was. Sales rep checked the price and it came up as $9.88.

Media says 12x, but just like the last I doubt you should have problems burning them faster.
SKU is: (3) 62841 (Not sure if the 3 is a part of the sku)

200 blank CD-R's for $42.29 incl Tax and no rebate husstles... well worth it!

cdrlabs tested maxells...
they don't have many errors in the beginning, comparable to TYs.... but once it hits the last few MB of the cd... there are tons of errors... 20x more errors...

My pre-8x-rated Maxells "Made in Japan" by Hitachi-Maxell - are crap. Sorry to say. They tend to have more readibility problems than most of my other CDRs, except for cheap crappy no-name CMC cyanine discs. My Sony/Lite-On CDRW drive cannot even write properly to them, it burns a completely unreadable disc with no errors indicated while burning. So much for "smart" burn.

This may not be that relevant, as I don't know if Hitachi-Maxell even makes CDR media any more. I think they now re-label CDR media made by other companies.

Maxell has a Pro series that are made in Japan by TY, but the others have not been as
good in my experience. And nearly $20 for 100 isn't that hot. I think Staples is selling 100 Memorex
(also can be found as Made In Japan - TY) for $14.94 this week, no rebate involved, no YMMV.

Got some of these (250) from amazon and he's right about errors at the end.

I use them to burn xcd's and every third one fails right near the end of the burn.

They may be ok for some use, but if you want to fill the cd, stay away from these.

cheers
