Since DRM is a hot topic in Bioshock threads, those of you that wish to discuss SecuROM (that comes with the steam and retail versions of Bioshock), please keep the majority of it in the thread linked here and avoid thread crapping today!

Do they throw the Spyware DRM Virus in for free?

Didn't you read Schadenfroh's post right above you?
If you can't add to the thread, stay out of it.

You don't follow direction very well, do you?

lol

I didn't think anyone would post about DRM, but alas, I was wrong.

I really want to buy this as well. It's gotten great reviews and looks like a very good game... but if I wanted to install spyware, I'd just go to some porn sites (and it would probably be less invasive spyware as well).

While I would normally agree that things like this should not be in hot deals, I think it's important for people to be aware of the DRM that comes with Bioshock and how intrusive it is. For a lot of people, the presence or absence of spyware affects how "hot" a deal is.

This is a great price on a great game (from what I've read), but I personally won't touch it until they take out the spyware. I intend to hold onto my constitutional right to privacy.

Yea, I do suppose the DRM is a huge issue. However, I've had little faith in privacy on the Windows platform for a while now. I'll just keep using Linux like I do now, and keep my Windows partition purely for gaming.

I just bought this on FS/FT for much cheaper than this. The game is pretty good but there are some minor bugs that annoy me. The surround sound in the game doesn't always work and isn't "right" in the sense that things that should sound like they are behind you actually sound like they are in front of you.

After I have finished the game, I will restore my OS image.
That will get rid of anything that might have been installed; problem solved with no hassle.

Don't understand people who do not backup (image) their OS.

What software do you use for imaging your OS?

I don't understand people who think it's reasonable that they need to image their OS in order to play a game.

I haven't heard of anyone who does anyway.

There are many reasons one would image their OS. Now, if one does, there could be many side benefits as well.
