I have recieved the card. It is a red PCB and "L" shaped memory. I have installed it and used a software hack. It is running smooth as butter. The hack really does improve it greatly!

 
yep they're suppose to be the hackable ones, just got mine from allstarshop.com (not sure if they're still selling) but it was $168, another good deal too (not trying to thread crap or anything).
 
I just called googlegear and they confirmed it was a red pcb but didn't know about the "L" shape memory. I'm going to email them too, just to get another response.

can someone explain to me what "hacking" the card does? maybe point me to a link that has the specifics on this?

the softhack enable the 4 unused pipelines on the board making it a radeon 9700 😀

Can someone confirm L shaped mem? they also have these at gameve for $158 but now its on BO

Going to place a call myself tomorrow morning . . . if this can be modded it's in my computer very soon 🙂 If not, it's in fs/ft very soon 🙁 I can take a $15 gamble if they're sure they are red pcb's . . . however I know for a fact that some of the new PCB's are red as well.

Well, that pic shows a straight-aligned mem chips... i.e. can't be modded.

The googlegear picture shows an L-shaped alignment.

Its how the memory is aligned. The one in the pic is not L shaped, it is aligned in a straight row.

The one in the google gear pic is aligned like an L. Two modules are on the top of the card, another two are to the right.
 
I feel like waving my e-penif...anyone wanna see my 3dmarks in 2003 w/ my software hacked card from allstarshop?
 
This is definitely worth the shot, these cards (if hackable) are getting harder and harder to find. This price definitely beats the allstarshop. I am in!

The "Pro" implies 9500 Pro.
If a 9500np cannot be soft-modded to a 9700, there is still a possibility to be modded to a 9500 Pro. Same process.
 
nice...you think this card is still worth it even if you can't hack it?

I'm gettin an LCD that could use a nice DVI vid card...
 
Just called googlegear, specifically asked if it was L shaped memory. The response was yes.
