Hey there! I just finished putting together my first computer! I'm so proud!
It's a 1.33 athlon with a iwill kk266 motherboard!! yipee! Anyway, after putting everything together, i got worried that it won't stay cool enough. Right now the CPU is idly running at around 46 - 48 C and the system temp is at 34 C. I haven't installed any OS yet, i'm a bit scared, i don't want the thing to melt on me :-( Anyway, are these acceptable? I sure hope so! that fan/heatsink was terrible to put on!

edit:

Aah.. ok.. After I looked around a bit, i noticed my front fan wasn't working, I got that to to work, now my CPU temp is between 46 and 48 C, and my system temp is at 29 C solid. Also, I believe the current temp is about 80 F. I forgot to mention that I have a gobalwin wbk38 Heatsink/fan, and one intake fan in front, one exhaust fan in back.

those temps. seem about normal for the high-end AMD's.
i've been seeing those temps. all over the tech boards and i was amazed at how hot these little chips get!
i have a Duron 850, idle @ 86F, and under heavy load @ 98/100F.
even with a good HSF setup you can run REALLY hot, that sucks.

the brings up my question, has anyone tried a peltier on a new AMD chip?
do they work well? i've heard they barely do anything... 🙁

THose are pretty good temp... just curious, but which case do you have?
My temp at this hour is 41 and 25, but of course that's because it's 3am.... when it gets hot in the day, my temp goes up to around 44 sometimes..

but for some reason, i don't feel that these temp from mbm5 are totally accurate... cause the first temp should be the room temp, and i got 22 for pretty much the whole day....
