Waltham MA: Heavy rain. Sustained winds 30-35 mph with gusts to 60MPH.

I'd bet the gusts are hitting near 70 or even 80MPH outside. House is periodically shuddering, and the 60+ foot oak out front is flapping all over the place.

I don't recall 60MPH winds being this bad. I've ridden out numerous severe nor' easters in Cape Hatteras NC that produced winds in excess of 80 MPH, and even they didn't sound as bad tonight.

Ah well, I'm probably being a wuss. Being up sick at 1 AM on a weekday will do that.

41mph gusts here. Luckily there are other buildings to take the brunt of the wind. :p

Just when the majority of the snow gets melted, we get more. :(

NW Pa here
Not getting it quite as bad as you are, 20-30mph winds, gusts don't seem too bad so far tonight but we're supposed to get 5"-10" of snow overnight. With those winds the drifts will be a bitch.

I went out this morning to sit in my chair.
First I had to find my chair.

I went to Waltham once, visited the Industrial Revelation Museum. It wasn't windy though and no rain. Are you sure you're in Waltham?

I'm quite sure.

Got to love childcare. 45 minutes into my hour long commute, my kids daycare calls and said that they have no power. Apparently the wind knocked down a bunch of powerlines all over the place.

The daycare should have organized an impromptu fieldtrip to go watch the downed lines jump around and spark. The kids would have loved it.

Yeah, we were just a little bit busy last night..trees down and power lines down all over. Two trees into houses, too.

I read this as "go watch the down lines and jump around the spark", but that's still pretty funny :D

I got up, ate breakfast, had some coffee and checked my email to find that my university sent out a message saying that it was still open, but to "use common sense".

I looked outside and saw thick sideways snow, and common sense tells me to stay inside where it's warm and there's Xbox/coffee.

Thanks university administration!

Whereabouts are you in Waltham? I went to Bentley 2004-08.
