for me, i believe the overnight effect lasted for about 2 years. for the past year, i've worn them as normal lenses during the day (apparently you aren't supposed to do this).

its known as orthokertology(sp?)

Good Lasik can be as much as $1.5-2k per eye. But it might be better in the long run.
