So my dad is a lawyer. He's pretty good, but recently struck out on his own after the company he had been working for was aquired by another insurance company and the new management sucked. So he got a fatty severence package and opened the only law office in Supprise AZ. In anycase, it's really small, but still.

He brings a laptop to/from the office so he can work on everything. There is a computer constantly in the office. Both are networked wirelessly (without broadcasting the SSID) and share the laptops harddrive and a printer.

My dad got a new desk for the computer that stays in the office, and uplugged it and set it back up. This somehow fubared the wireless connection, and my dad's girlfriend freaked out about it when she figured it out(cuz she's the one that uses it, as a Secretary basically). So she tries troubleshooting it with the built in help stuff, and can't figure it out, and tries to "copy the settings from the laptop onto a disk to install them on the black computer". And in the process the laptop no longer connects to the network.

So yeah. Needless to say, it wasn't that hard to fix, but I had to wait until I finished up at my job(retail in the mall), then drive another 10 miles out the office and fix it all. Took me 20 minutes tops to get it all straightened out. Now I'm just waiting for the father's g/f to come back with a power strip so I can reinstall the printer in a different part of the office. Joys of being the 'comp savvy' kid.

And I am getting something out of it, tuition for college :)

edit: Oh yeah, she moved the printer over to the other side of the office, and plugged it into the stationary computer and wondered why it didn't work straight off. She didn't bring the power cord for it. Gotta love it :)
