1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
Primarily Gaming, Internet, Home Office

2. What YOUR budget is
Under 1000$ preferable, looking for a good preformance sytem

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
US, Newegg Most likely

4. IF YOU have a brand preference.
Prefer nvidia GPU & Intel CPU - due to driver updates/ease of use, not opposed to AMD, just have not used them since radeon 9600 cards.
Prefer Single Card GPU Soluitions

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
WD Raptor 300gb HD & 500GB Data drive X2
Case & Fans - Coolermaster Stacker
Display - Dell 24" monitor
Keyboard/mouse
Speakers
PSU - Corsair Tx 750

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes, primarily asking because i have not bothered to keep up to date with the latest changes, using an older computer system and OS, that is starting to show its age

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Moderate Overclock or Default, prefer to build the ability to overclock into the system if it doesnt break the price range.

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1920 x 1200

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
30 days

($350 - 400) - i5-2500k, P67 or Z68 motherboard (Asus, Gigabyte or MSI)
($80 - 100) - 8 GB DDR3 RAM (2 x 4 GB), 1.5 volt regular, don't pay extra for fast or performance RAM, overclocking of the 15 is by increasing the CPU multiplier
($250 - 350) - Geforce 560 ti is good for some games at 19x12, but you might spend extra on a 570 if there is a decent deal when you're ready to buy
- Windows 7 64-bit

You might be able to fit an intel 120 GB SSD (320 model) into your budget for the boot drive ($240) depending on what deals are available on the parts when you're ready to buy. For gaming at 19x12 getting a gtx 570 instead of 560 probably makes more sense.

Thanks for the responses, i have a few questions after looking into some things.

With regard to memory and the K series of CPUs, Cas Latency is not an issue ? I dont expect to go past 4.5Ghz as far as an overclock, and will probably just live with what i get in the 4.2-4.3 range

The major question is the SSD drive. I am having a hard time justifying the expense, will it make that much of a difference. 2.50$ per gb is a tough price to pay for me personally, and my budget is limited. I am leaning towards keeping the raptor for now, and getting an SSD drive in 12-24 months once the price drops more, if it does. I do have to buy win 7, after vista i promised that i would never early adopt a MS OS ever again.

This list is based on not picking up a SSD at this time, so i went with some personal preferances and picked up the 570 GPU. any comments are appreciated.

EDIT: i also plan on installing win 7 on 2 computers, since i will have enough to rebuild my old system for the wife, this wont be an issue?

the Cas Latency isn't that big a deal with the Sandy Bridge 1155 socket

Hang on to the raptor.. i personally enjoy the silence of my SSD but in my normal desktop use the difference is marginal IMO..

Cas Latency has just about zero impact on Sandy Bridge; you are overpaying for the ram. Go with a cheaper CAS9/mobo combo. Also imo it is absolutely worth it for the C300; top tier SSD for a very low price. It is superior to the raptor especially in random writes. Much more worth it to invest in that than over-featured mobos.

I agree completely. OP, the SSD is the only upgrade that you can make to your computer that is literally 10 times faster than the older part. The fact that you're improving the slowest part of the computer (the disk) also helps.

Go ahead, close your Firefox windows then open the browser back up. I'll wait.

You're back? Good. See how long that took? My system with an SSD does it instantly.
