Yet another Xbox 360 Networking thread

I have a comtrend CT-5621 gateway that my ISP provides. I'm running the cable to the xbox, no wireless.

I called my ISP for asistance, they were zero help. He basically tried one thing and then gave up. Said I'd have to buy a router from Microsoft and then use my current gateway and have the MS router connect through it.

I have four ports on the back of the Comtrend. How can I, or is it possible to, plug the xbox into the back of the router and connect to XBL?

Excuse my idocy, I've done some searching, but I'm lost. I did have my original xbox connected to XBconnect and my computer previously (with 2 nics), but this seems to be a whole different animal.

Thanks!

You have a comtrend CT-5621 DSL-router.

Connect your Xbox to any LAN port on your CT router and your PC to any LAN port as well.

Logged onto router configuration page then enable the trigger ports 3074-TCP/UDP and 88-UDP.

Good luck!

Wow. I hope you're right marulee, that sounds too easy. WAY easier than the stuff I've been trying (static ip, port forwarding).

I'll post back tonight. If it works, I'll buy you a beer 😉
