Yet Another which SSD for me post

I'm looking into getting an SSD between now and xmas for my netbook. The SSD is for my HP Mini 210 netbook. My goal first and foremost is to get rid of the mechanical factor that is that 160GB drive. The other reason is heat production. Finally, maybe it'll net a little more battery life (not that I'm complaining about 8 hours). I think I only *need* 40GB, but 60/80GB would be more comfortable. I'm hoping to come in at 150$ or less. Any recommendations yalls 🙂

i just ordered my vertex 2. should be in monday, ill tell ya how it is! but 3 of my friends have them and swear by them. Right now that is a solid choice. the crucial c300 is another solid choice but with the deals on the vertex2's hard to beat

Just a heads up that you know that the drive will increase everything significantly but will not post top performance speeds because of the system...

If you dont look at the tests though you will never notice the difference.

@flamenko: I just noticed you have an Acer 1810T with an OWC SSD. I just bought a cousin of that model, the Acer Travelmate 1872, and have been considering replacing the stock HDD with either a Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive or an SSD. Did you see a noticeable (i.e. significant) performance boost with the OWC?

Its not just the OWC as it is the SSD. I have an Intel X25 in the system right now and its probably the most powerful 11 inch out there. The main performance boost of the ssd comes in the seek times (consistent through most ssds) and, as long as you arent using an atom processor, you will get full performance out of the ssd. My laptop, in fact, gets better start time than the main test system...
