Looking for recommendations for a motherboard?
I recently ordered parts for a new build.
I found a combo with amd 64 3500+ w/ecs nforce 4 board from outpost.com ($249).
Seemed like a decent deal, so I ordered it along with some memory from them.
In the mean time, I also ordered (from various other places) a PCI express video card (AIW x6700 pro), Antec case w/450w ps, a seagate SATA 150 HD and a soundblaster xfi platinum.
Well, I just got an email from outpost - none of the items I ordered from them are in stock and they can't give an ETA.
So, I?m starting over with the MB & CPU.
I also just found that there are problems with the soundblaster on Nforce4 motherboards. It looks like some vendors may have some BIOS updates to resolve the problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
So, I'm looking for a MB which won't have issues with the SB and also has pci-express 16 for the video.
I'd prefer to go with a 939, but may consider a 754. (I'm leaning towards a 3500 cpu and don't plan to OC).
