Yet Another Vsync/Trible Buffering thread

So for quite a while I would run games with Vsync on as it would completely solve the page tearing issue, but it would also cause input lag and that was killer in games like CS:S or other First person shooters. So I've been playing around with Triple buffering. The input lag from Vsync is completely gone, but the game does not feel smooth. As the framerate jumps around in game it ranges from smoothish to stuttering. Is there anything else I can try to eliminate page tearing and maintain the smoothness of Vsync? The main game I care about is CS:S

I had the same problems as you. I found out that if I was able to set a maximum FPS to just below my LCD refresh rate, it would fix the problem. I believe in source games, the command is: "fps_max". In the UT3, I think it is the "MaxSmoothFramerate" line in the INI file. It worked for me in other UT3 engine games such as Bioshock and Mass Effect.
