Yet another VPN question

I have a VPN connection setup on a Windows XP Pro machine. Norton Internet Security is disabled and the firewall on my Linksys WRT54G router is disabled. I have PPTP enabled on the router and I even setup the XP machine in a DMZ. The router has the latest firmware. Port 1723 has been forwarded correctly.

When I try to connect to the VPN from any computer, it says "Authenticating Username and Password" but then fails and gives an error "Could not find remote computer".

The only thing I can think of is that the ISP's (Networktel) router has protocl 47 blocked? I call and asked them if I had everything I needed open in order to setup a VPN and they said yes. I am try calling them again and directly asking them about 47.

BTW, the XP machine only has one network card. I have been able to access the VPN within the LAN and it works fine, just not through the WAN.

Any ideas?

Im not sure if this will help, but...

When using Terminal Services I had to lower the MTU on the router because the packets were being dropped.

Try that out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot to mention that I had tried lowering the MTU setting - no success.
