In one word: COOL! :p

-----------------------------------------------------------------
The used PC:

Compag Deskpro 2000 (Pentium 166 MHz, 32 MB EDO RAM, 1 GB HD)
+ Intel chipset based NIC (10 Mbit)*
+ Realtek RTL8139 based NIC (10/100 Mbit)*

*PCI card
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't install it on the HD, but instead I run it from a floppy, which doesn't make a huge difference, except that it boots faster when loading it from a HD, but I'm not planning to reboot this proxy that often ;)

I'm using cable internet, which made the installation really easy: it took me about 10 minutes to get the PC ready and configure FreeSCO.

Congrats, another happy Freesco user.:)

As long as you have the hard drive in the machine you might as well move the install to it. move2hdd This will give you lots of extra room to add toys like efax,lynx,dnetc,mc,etc... There are all kinds of packages you can install for it. Just type listpkg to see what the official Freesco packages are and look in the forums for a bunch of third party software.

Well, I do have two HD's in it, actually. The 1 GB one and a 450 MB HD. Can I install Freesco on the second HD (which is slave on the second IDE channel)? Also, how can I boot it from there?

I'm not ready yet to give up the Win98 installation on the first HD ;)

Freesco can't see a secondary IDE. Just connect your Freesco as the primary master and the win98 on the secondary. Then in the bios you should be able to change your boot drive from c to d and it should work. I dont know I never wanted a dual boot with my Freesco box.
