searching for text that makes up emoticons now returns every thread containing those emoticons. For example, if you search for "cookie" you get every thread with a :cookie: in it as results. If you search for "beer" you get every thread with a :beer: in it as results. Considering that there are plenty of commonly used words in emoticons, I think this should be changed.
 
that's because technically those posts contain those words. With my complete lack of knowledge with fusetalk, I can say without a doubt it's impossible to fix.
 
You could try "advanced search" and put : cookie ; etc in "Not these words".
That might work?

with my understanding of how databases and fusetalk work, I can say that it's DEFINITELY possible to fix, it just requires a little bit more work.

*nods* Should be a fairly simple job to un-include results within < > brackets from searches.
 
This is just due to the fact that those words exist, this isn't an easy fix , and honestlyis a pretty minor issue. Noted.
