Currently I have a Ti-500. I've been playing a couple games lately, and it only now struck me that I'm lagging a little behind. I can no longer go into higher resolutions without extreme lag. I am considering various ATI cards.

Can someone give me some advice?

At New Egg:
The 9600xt seems like the best value at $175ish.
The 9700pro is also a good value at $240ish (OEM - Sapphire).
The 9800np is about $260 for retail boxes of "Hi Tech" and "GeXCube" brands.

On Pricewatch:
The 9800pro retail is $275

I know that the 9700/9800 will be more futureproof. One thing I am unsure of is which ones come with free half life 2 and which ones don't, or how will I know?

Is it risky to buy retail packages off of pricewatch? Assuming I won't be returning it. Seems like most negative ratings come in regards to returning items that are risky purchases (CPU, memory).

Is the 9800pro going to be futureproof enough to justify the $100 added cost? Is an OEM Sapphire 9700pro a risky purchase?

I looked over the numbers, and decided the 9800pro wasn't worth it over the 9700pro, and determined that HL2 only comes with the 9600xt.

So I guess I'm going with the 9700pro.

I just got a 9500np L-shaped memeory config. from allstarshop for $139 + CA tax (I had not thought they still sold these). I installed it yesterday with modded driver, and it's running at overclocked 9700 speed w/o any artifect.
