Yet another reason why I shop at Target and avoid WalMart whenever possible.

Why does anyone in their right mind willfully shop at WalMart?

I needed some more compressed air and windex wipes and I had found no Targets in the area. So I decided to brave a WalMart.

I get into the lot and the place is packed, no big deal, doesn't kill me to walk a little further.

I find the compressed air. It's a couple of cents more than target, oook isn't WalMart supposed to be cheaper? So then I go to find the windex wipes. They only have the blue ones and don't sell the yellow ones. *sigh* whatever, maybe the Stop and Shop will have the wipes.

So I get to the front and the lines are insanely long, you'd think they would put a few more cashiers on but no such luck. So I decided to try the self checkout. This guy is walking to them in front of me and stops by one of them but doesn't quite go into the line. I'm like are you going into the line or are you going to stand there all day. Just as I'm about to walk around him he finally decides to get into the line.

So I wait for my turn and then I go to scan and pay, guess what, compressed air is a restricted item?!?!?!? Ooooook, so apparently I need a cashiers approval to buy it. It says to please wait while someone approves it. Well I stand there and no cashier shows up. Looking at the lines I did not want to wait another 20 minutes to buy a can of compressed air. I ended up leaving the air on the counter and walking out.

I ended up driving 15 miles to find a Target but it sure beats shopping at WalMart.

Cliffs Notes: WalMart doesn't carry what I want, they are more expensive than Target, they have no cashiers, and they have stupid purchase restrictions.
Target may not be perfect but they are 1,000,000 times better than WalMart.

i like walmart because the one by me is open 24 hours. its also next to a pac-n-save grocery store which is also open 24 hours. you could, at 3 am, go to walmart, buy a grill and charcoal, and then go to pac-n-save and buy steaks and grill steaks at 3 in the morning. or if your lazy, there's also a denny's right by these two stores, which is also open 24 hours.

I've found wal mart to be cheaper and even though the lines are bad, I can spend the extra 10 or 15 minutes waiting

OTOH, I shop at target every time I can because I can get out the store in under 10 minutes with what I want, at walmart the line itself is 20 damn minutes long

Where do you live TechnoKid? I live in Boston, and open-24/7 places around here is still a novelty.

I never shop at Walmart, Target is always a better shopping experience. Target clearance items own... I picked up 75 cans of Fancy Feast cat food for $.21 a can yesterday.

Some of us actually like Walmart. If it wasn't for Walmart, many of my friend's parents small businesses and shops in our tiny city wouldn't have gone out of business and I wouldn't be able to tease all my friends who are employed at a lousy minimum wage after getting diplomas and degrees.

But hey, anything to save $5, right?

Late night shopping at the 24 hour Wal-Marts here in Dallas is a nightmare. After 11pm the lines are half way to the back of the store! It's insane! Also at the older Wal-Marts here, if you look up at the vents in the ceiling the tiles around them are stained black from lack of proper air filter maintenance on their A/C units. (I guess Wal-Mart gets lower prices by sacrificing their customers health and pinching pennies on store maintenance.) I swear by the look alone of these things you would think you are risking your life going into the store! In case you don't live in Texas and have not heard, black mold (Stachybotrys chartarum) can cause severe health problems if you are exposed.

Target > Whore-mart.
I shop at Target. You actually feel like a human being and not cattle when shopping there. It's clean, not too crowded, and well organized, with higher quality products. Luckily there are two within 2 miles of me. :)

I got Nyquil for $1.40 on clearance yesterday. It's like they were reading my mind. Just as I get sick, bam, nyquil on clearance :)

At home there is a Taget 5 miles away and another 3 of them within 15 miles of me.

In this case I was north of Boston though and I was lucky just to find that Walmart. Ended up having to go to the Target in I think Saugus on US1 to find what I want though. Ironically I found another Target in the Salem area the next day. :p

They've also received over $1 billion in subsidies from state and local governments since 1980. That's not money going to Walmart's employees, it's money directly in Walmart's pocket. Then they run ads about how much they give back to the community.
Text

The ad about their Napa Valley store is sickening. They take one location where they've taken a more responsible approach, and they pass it off as the way they do business.

I'd shop at target if there was one within 400 miles of here.

Walmart is always busy and filled with deformed humans.
