No doubt that Best Buy would love if a good percentage of AT Hot Dealers never set foot inside one of their stores again. It's good business sense.

Either way...I had $500 to spend there this last weekend and walked in and bought nothing. They never know ANYTHING about their products. The guy at the camera counter knew more about video cards than the people in the computer department. That's just rediculous. Also...they have a lot of 3rd party partner/vendors in the store now driving business out.

I originally walked in to buy Tivo and walked out realizing that I can get the same thing from Cox now for only $6.00 more per month. Works for me...

True. The funny thing is, this same 20% is prob. comprised of a lot of Hot Dealers who'll continously vow to never step foot into Best Buy after BB doesn't honor the $50 free coupon they fraudulently obtained. 'course, the second another erroneous coupon comes out, they'll try and rip off BB again.

You can't really blame them... the general population is very impossible to deal with.

I can't blame the guy. I'd say at least 20% of the people here are undesirable. And this 1000 year old Chief Ninja wants to be rid of these posters.

Some comments on Best Buy.

1) Their crap is not priced any lower than other retailers.
2) Each time I go in there to make a purchase, I get bombarded with suggestions to purchase an extended warrenty.
3) I get their 10% off promotional coupons, but 10% off of retail is still not the greatest discount.

Finally, Best Buy can make all the attempts they want to scale their business in different directions. However, come a recession in the economy, they'll be kissing everyone's a$$ to get them back in their store to buy electronic goodies.

And, if you read through the entire article, BB claims that hiring more "specialized" folks costs more money. I guess this means that 80%+ of their current employee base is S.O.L. because they don't have the basic knowledge required to sell items in the store.

What do you expect from a bunch of kids making low hourly wages? Noone goes to BB because of their sales staff. As for the 20% undesirable customers, if you owned a business you probably wouldn't appreciate customers abusing your return/replacement policies either.

If you want low prices, shop at an online wholesaler. If you want knowledgeable sales staff, go to a specialty store and expect to pay way more. If you want something in between, go to BB.

Eh, if they're complaining about people finally starting to redeem rebates and buy stuff at marked down prices they should either stop offering them or stop complaining.

awww poor BB is getting beat by its own tactics of drawing customers in.

This is the same "problem" that is affecting the advertising industry, it's called "EDUCATED CONSUMERS".
Companies hate educated consumers. Sucks to be them.

Not entirely correct. BB has lots of their prices set at the retail level. Even if you go to a specialty store, you'll quickly see the BB is no bargain when it comes to prices. Plus, you get better service from the specialty store and good prices, too.

I think BB is missing the mark on this one. There is nothing to prove that those 20% are pure ferengis. I go into BB, get bored and leave. Does that put me into one of their categories? Probably so. However, if their place wasn't such a snooze-fest, I probably would buy most of my items there.

I haven't bought anything from BestBuy in years. Mainly b/c I never find what I want there.

Generally, I think results vary widely when shopping at specialty stores. In any case, I'm not defending BB's mediocre sales staff. I'm just getting tired of the rants from people that are miffed that BB didn't meet their overly-optimistic expectations for service.

Having worked at Circuit City for over 3 years, he is certainly justified in feeling that way. Hell, I'd say 20% is too low.

That said, to publically try to 'rid' yourself of customers, particularly, by slashing deals....bad.

Any store would like to get rid of those customers. Those are the people that use loopholes to cause the store to lose money.
