Hey look, my first Youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8KcoM7D82Y
Get in at ground floor (2)
Press destination floor (7)
Results:
Elevator button 6 lights up at "destination"
Elevator floor indicator shows "7 and 8"
Actual floor: 8

Since that's clearly not enough for a thread, I took some random pictures on my walk home:

Exhibit A:
Fail Dumpster
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Y...ello/Dumpster_Fail.JPG

Front
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Y...lo/Dumpster_Fail_2.JPG
Side

Back
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Y...lo/Dumpster_Fail_4.JPG
(There are no divisions inside the dumpster)

Exhibit B:
Fail Grill... not sure what happened here
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Y...DAjello/Grill_Fail.JPG
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Y...jello/Grill_Fail_2.JPG

Exhibit C:
Fail Shrub... I guess this by far the least interesting
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/Y...DAjello/Shrub_Fail.JPG
The second shrub in (the tall one) is actually an invasive species (Buck Thorn) that overwhelmed and killed the shrub that it sprouted under... it's going to turn into a very hard to kill and fast growing tree that sheds purple/black berries that will stain everything around it and will probably take over this whole area... I guess that's really boring, but I spent several summers cutting this stuff down at the zoo.

Haha at the failavator. Some sensors are probably screwed somewhere. If those have not been maintained in a while wonder when the last time the cables were checked. :p

This is where the urban legend comes in, if an elevator is falling and you jump at the last minute, do you survive? :p (answer is no)

What's the grill and shrub? All I see is charcoal on the ground for the grill. The shrub looks like poison ivy.

The elevators are being replaced after many years of questionable service.

The grill and shrub pictures were withing 30 feet of one another. I figured I needed more content if I was actually going to make a thread, so I took the incredibly boring pictures.

The grill is what probably amounts to half a bag of charcoal strewn around a 20 foot radius. Although I'm not a grill master, I don't tend to have charcoal strewn about in that kind of magnitude nor do I have enough of it on the ground near my feat that I end up walking on it and crushing it into the pavement. Hence... fail.

The shrub is buckthorn
http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/inv...fact/buckthorn_com.htm
I've spent hundreds of hours cutting the stuff down. It has a nasty habit of growing within another bush and then due to an incredible growth rate and headiness, it's able to out-grow the original bush. Last year, this shrub was in the transitional period when whoever was trimming it didn't know what they were doing and trimmed the whole shrub to the same size, not noticing that what he or she was trimming off was the buckthorn growth that had grown through the original bush.
This year, the buckthorn's increased growth rate is readily seen as it's towering over the rest of the shrubs as the original shrub that it's growing out of is basically dead.

If they don't notice that it's buckthorn soon, it's either going to become an increasingly difficult plant to trim to look like the other ones in terms of size, or if they're totally oblivious, they'll let it grown into a tree now. Aside from the terrible berries mentioned earlier, this will also probably result in all the other bushes in the area ending up with the same fate as the first bush that this took over.

They also have some nasty thorns on them. A few years ago, I actually got hit in the head with a branch I was cutting down and a thorn went through my hat and into my head.
I thought I had just gotten hit with the branch and didn't notice that the end of a thorn had broken off and lodged itself in my head.
I think it was a few weeks later when I was wondering why my scab from the injury still hadn't healed when I was able to pick this straight out (perpendicular) to the surface of my head.

Yeah, it wasn't like it got deflected and went under the skin along the skull, I took hold of the broken off end and pulled straight up.

Afterward, I went online and tried to find information about skull thickness in that area and how much room there was to play with before something "bad" would have happened. I'm glad I was wearing my hat and it had a little more resistance to go through first :p

Goddamn what a pile of shit elevator. I'd complain to whoever can do something about it. I dunno, an elevator not working as it should is kinda scary.

LOL @ the dumpster though.

I think there's only about 6 weeks or so before they replace that one. They're doing them one at a time and apparently it takes 11 weeks per elevator to replace them. This crazy one is the one in the middle (three total).
