Below is the system build I am thinking about ordering from Monarch. As you can plainly see, I have shamelessly cut and pasted my shopping cart for you guys to take a look at.

I don?t care about SLI or crossfire, but I would like the best motherboard I can get my hands on otherwise, would the DFI I picked be a good option? I will not likely over clock right away, but I am going to give it a go in a year or so.

Also, I don?t really know too much about the RAM. I know I want 2 gigs, and that OCZ should work in the DFI motherboard, other then that any ideas?

I would like to keep the price tag under 1700 USD for the parts listed. I plan on using the system for gaming and office like programs, with some video editing in the mix. Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

Everything looks good, seems like the video card would be the only weak spot. Of course, you are probably already prepared to upgrade that in six months time.

If it were me, I'd try to get a better CPU/Videocard ratio for the spending.

If gaming is a big concern, I'd bump the CPU down to a mid level A64 and bump the Videocard up to something faster.

Maybe even a 3500+ and a 7800

I think it's a great performer, but I think it's a little underpowered vs the $600 processor he has planned.

The video card is a little on the weak side, but that is something I tend to upgrade every 12-18 months. All of the other parts of my build are going to be with me for the life of the system.

X800XL is a weak card??? What should he get dual 7800's in SLI. I think X800Xl is a great card and if u plan on upgrading anyways then you will be fine. Really if ur upgrading anyways later, why not get a 6600gt and wait for all the prices to go down.. NVIDIA is releasing 3 new 7 series cards soon so good vid cards are going to be very competitvely priced soon. I might wait. Good luck

Looks awesome! Maybe you could look at an xp-90 instead of that thermaltake HSF. It should cool a little better if you plan to OC...
