yet another paypal question

hii, so i shipped the item after the buyer paid $1100 by paypal, and then withdrew $100 from the paypal account, leaving $1000 in there, later i decided to withdraw the whole lot - basically, i made 2 withdrawals, $100, then $1000

so the next day i get an email from Paypal saying the payment has been reversed because the buyer claimed unauthorized access... I didnt bother to reply to the dispute case because i have no proof that i sent it - didnt send by recorded delivery, and I know that i would lose the case.

Usually paypal would have stopped the bank withdrawal of $1000 to cover the negative balance, however since i made a $100 withdrawal beforehand, it only reversed that one, so i still recieved the $1000 in my bank account a few days later...

well now i am just deciding, if i never logged into the paypal account again, am i forced legally to pay the $1000 to paypal?

I have not got the item obviously and i dont want to lose both that AND the money due to paypals imcompetence against fraud, so yeh, how likely is it that something would happen if i just ignored it forever?

hope that makes sense...tia

You will be contacted by a collections agency after approximatly 90 days and be forced to pay the difference unless you can prove your case.

The same thing happened to me. If you cant provide proof, you might as well just pay it and save your credit score. I stopped using paypal after that incident. (luckily mine was only $200).

Heck, the one time I didn't do tracking for an item I sold here it went "missing". At least I was only out $30 for being dumb.

I cancelled my Paypal account because of other screwups. I'll stick with money orders/personal checks.
