no surprise, look up actual consumer complaints, not web threads, not I love or hate it.. actual BBB complaints.. ya, EA is ok, sure. #1 rated In the games/entertainment segment... but please google what that is :) hint its not customer satisfaction.

those who love um wont believe it,
the rest made that BBB list

I'm basically the same, there's literally no excuse for demanding gamers use multiple digital download services, when they ought to have all their games in one convenient place.

EAs continual attempt to force gamers into using origin by releasing origin only games is lame, every time that happens I simply skip the title.

I was one of the early people that managed to get Crysis and a bunch of other things on the steam store before EA pulled it all to promote Origin.

Luckily EA don't produce/publish anything actually very good these days, so it's not a huge loss.

I've got Crysis, Warhead and Crysis 2 Maximum Edition on Steam. Crysis 3 on Origin.

Here's something weird. I've got Alice: Madness Returns on Steam (bought it there on sale) and when I log into origin, it's there. I can install and play it through Origin, or I can install and play it through Steam. I don't know how they pulled that info from Steam, cause I never put my EA login into A:MR at any time.

I don't mind Origin. I'm even alright with only being able to get EA games through it.

The one that really baffles me on why it exists is UPlay. Their games are available in Steam, so why do they need a storefront? Furthermore, why do I need to login to UPlay to play the games, considering when I launch the game from Uplay, it launches Steam to run the game! Just baffling. Same with R* Social club, and GFWL which thankfully is gone.

I'm ok with Origin, EA would earn good points with me if I could add some C&C 3 CD keys to my library.
I also wonder if there would be so much hate if everything about it was the same but it was Google-Origin or some other company. Basically is the real problem with Origin EA?

uPlay is an absolute travesty that should not exist at all.

Steam is vastly superior to Origin in many ways, but Origin works relatively fine for me. I don't use it much though. Steam, OTOH, I have running constantly.

One thing I loathe about Origin is the Updating and Login system. It is poorly conceived in comparison to Steam.

Yeah, I can't speak for others but honestly, that is the core issue for me. I perceive Steam/Valve as pro PC. Steam gives me good deals on games, Valve doesn't ignore the PC platform and the releases play like they were designed with the PC as primary platform, even when their games launch for consoles as well. XBOX and PS have "parents" in Microsoft and Sony while PC gaming is basically an orphan and Valve decided to take care of it when everyone bailed. This is huge in my book.

My resentment for EA stems from their history with games, studios and their "attitude" towards PC. I'm not going to repeat what has been said many times, we all know the history. I perceive EA as company that ruined and discontinued a lot of games and they even killed off franchises on the PC while they continued on the consoles, a cardinal sin. I don't deem them as "worthy" of the right to put their games behind the origin barrier.

That being said, due to their "work", there aren't that many appealing games on origin, while steam is a thriving ecosystem, origin is not, installing origin just to play a handful of games makes it that much harder to to accept them.
I have BF4, Crysis and Mirror's Edge on origin. All on separate accounts I had to recover since I didn't deem it worthy of using my CPU cycles. Oh and the first time I bought Crysis, it expired when I wanted to redownload it. Not sure exactly, I think it either allowed me to download the game 1 time or I had 1 year access to download from day of purchase, one of the two. So now you know. LOL, someone in the forums has a sig quote "EA murdered my family" cracks me up every time I see it.

Ubi's uplay gave me far more trouble than origin ever did yet I tolerate them a lot more than EA. Not that Ubi is a much more PC friendly company but they didn't step on my toes as much as EA.

I always enjoy yet another Origin bash thread full of noobs whining about their problems.

Actually, the noobs in this thread are felating EA and spreading FUD like this:

Goddamn evil EA.

Making me play BF1942 and Dead Space for free on origin.

Also goddamn Origin for being so bandwidth efficient and well optimized, why can't they ruin my games like when Steam decides to do a client update in the middle of a Dota 2 match and give no option to turn it off?

Also how evil can you be to make your games Origin exclusive? (okay, Valve does the exact same thing with Steam, but they're Valve so they're cool).

I'm talking about steam client updates, not game updates. There is no way to stop them.

I know for a fact that Steam will not install client updates or restart while you are in the middle of a game. Are you sure you were "playing" DotA2, or did you just have it open and window focus on another program or the Steam client itself?

EA has a lot more dirt on their hands than trying to shove Origin down our throats by the way. Long term PC gamers can be a fickle bunch, and I personally have not been able to get over the destruction of good studios/ideas such as Bullfrog, Westwood, and Maxis.

I know for a fact that it does. If it never happened to you, then lucky you. It happens to others.

Origin never downloads anything while playing a game. Say what you want about EA and their business practices, but the Origin client itself is ten times better than Steam.

Its a single game that had this problem (they call them BUGS, many games, hell i think all games have them) from my understanding, i dont play DOTA2, its fixed now, was a bug when it was in BETA!!!! yes beta.. You want to judge the whole system on one game in beta, don't make me start posting links (to several, heck almost all) Origin games where people have had issues. I have several hundred steam games, I have 3 Origin, 2 of the Origin games had issues, 3-4 of the steam ones have. Shit happens.

EA had a digital DL store long before ORIGIN (and even before STEAM was popular) the games where almost all priced over the boxed copies in store. There where no sales, and no attempts to make a useful for the consumer. It was something they put no effort into, they simply didnt care. STEAM came along and did it all WRONG according to EA "sales and free games devalue products, we would never go that route, its not good for the dev or the end user" (sorry, that is not an exact quote, but its close). Now Origin mimics steam.. sad. SWonline comes out, a top EA executive, before its released says its garbage (he was fired, do some googling). Now even if the game was, you gotta be smart enough to know not to say that.

a Bully is a bully even if when the teacher is watching and he is nice. EA will SCREW the end user as long as the sheep keep letting them. BUYIN all access to NFL, cant beat the competition with your game? Just make it so they cant make a competing game. I quit letting them when Bullfrog was destroyed, Westwood was destroyed, when Origin (you know, Ultima/wing commander) was destroyed, (can mention about 5 other companies at least) when they said one thing (see above about devaluing products with sales) and did another, copied steam, when they said OnlineDRM (Sim CIty) all the time "had to be done, game was designed that way" when it was proved it wasn't and ran just fine without (hacked).

now please list all the Harm VALVE has done to companies, I have no doubt there are some, so please list them. Im not thrilled they forced STEAM on us.

I beg to differ. When EA gives you their entire digital distribution library for free, multiple times over, it's very hard to argue that it's not worth it.

Who cares? They can keep it.

I'm fine with Origin, though I prefer not to use it (just hate having to use more than one login system for my games). I had issues when I first started using it, but that was more due to GFWL rather than Origin itself. It's been stable and problem-free since then in the few times I have used it.

KT

I had problems with downloads, connectivity, couldn't find DLCs, etc all with mass effect 3. I like the interface better than steam's but for me it was a buggy unreliable piece of crap.

EVERY time I need to login to Origin I have to reset my password. Looking up problem on Google this seems to be a widely recognized Origin issue. Luckily once I install Origin I can stay logged in. I only have it because I bought Crysis 3 on it for $6. No way I would put a half dozen games on this POS.
