For a long time I wondered how it was that fuckwit cop stories going national didn't actively discourage other cops from being fuckwits (in a "christ, these people give our profession a bad name" sense), but apparently the opposite effect seems to be the case in other job fields too.

Overall I think these lock-making companies need to understand that they need to be a *far* bigger player in worldwide terms if they want to crush their critics. Obviously I'd prefer them to have a grasp of "try not to be a fuckwit" but that is apparently too high an expectation.

This story is very much a case of "when you thought it couldn't get any worse, fuckwit out-fuckwits themself".

Obviously legal intimidation by people of means and access to silence critics has a proven record of success despite situations like this that backfire spectacularly otherwise we wouldn’t be reading about shit like this. Win or lose, the lawyers get paid so where would a serious will to reform the system come from?

This will provoke the worst effect.... even if they stays in the US, in the ROW would be a total chaos.
