What is there left to pursue here on earth? Yes, I could go to school and get degrees and make 19 billion a year. What would that benefit me? Would that make me happier?

What is man's purpose here and how does he accomplish it? Were we meant to spend our lives building the fastest processors or motherboards with most features?

Or maybe designing operating systems that suck the life out of the fastest computer you just built. Or even sitting for days and months and years on end, writing the most efficient code for the free ones.

Or could the answer lie in just using the things that others have built and os's that others have written--to their fullest extent.

There is so much knowledge "out there". How do you choose what to do?
Just thinking.

If your thoughts on life consist only of coding, processors, operating systems, and motherboards, then you really need to get out more. Go join the Army.

To each their own. No one should be limited by what others think. If computers are what makes you happy, then work with computers. If joining the Army makes you happy, then join the Army. Most of us like to find a middle road, but no one has to do anything to have a fulfilling life. To me, a fulfilling life is one where you have little to no regrets when you're ready to keel over and die.

Spend the 19 billion on stuff that makes you happy. There's more to life outside of Computers. expose yourself to them, every single aspect from around the globe- experiences, friendships, memories, stuff that you only have the opportunity to experience at certain points in life. see the world, learn to do everything. last but not least, do it in his glory.

How about:
Treat everyone and everything the way you want to be treated.
Get married, have children, love them, (childred and spouse) and raise the best you can.
Plant a tree.
Volunteer one hour a week at a soup kitchen.
Do a minium of two good deeds a day.

Don't look for purpose, because shortly after you complete your task, you'll be empty inside.

Just Eat, Drink, and be Merry.

I have figured out that I want to spend my life doing the things that make me happy or will help me to be able to do things that make me happy.

I know what your feeling. Im going to University next year, but I don't really know why anymore. Im going to work hard and have a successfull career. But in the end, I'll end up just like the guy working at mcdonalds for the rest of his life. And while I had to study and work hard, he got to party and take is easy. Sometimes I wonder....

The guy at McDonalds isn't going to be able to afford a nice car, a decent apartment without a roommate, or take his girl to a nice restaurant.

College is 4 years where you find yourself. If you still haven't found yourself after 4 years then go to gradschool for something you like.
