Did you guys that got lasik done pay all at once or finance it? I think I would have to finance it and I'm curious as to what kinds of payment plans may be available.

Nope, paid lump sum.

Nope, paid lump sum.

I paid lump sum too but 3 of the 4 places I went to for an evaluation offered 0% financing for 12 months.

I had lasik done 2 weeks ago Monday. Slight halos a little dryness. No big deal.

My dad paid for it (lucky). $3200 0% 12 months financing

Is lasik an option for those of us with astigmatism?

My eyes are fairly screwy and i definately wouldnt get it done until they stabalize.....

Right now this is what i am,

Right Eye: Near Sighted & Astigmatism
Left Eye: Far Sighted & Astigmatism

Depends on the type and extent of Astigmatism AFAIK.

My Wife had -10 in both eyes and rectified fully by Lasik. She had it done in Istanbul for $1200 for both eyes and that was four years ago. Still excellent vision no problems.

wonder how long it would take if I go to Canada for this surgery.

I need a vacation and wouldn't mind the trip.

I don't have the link anymore but I was briefly considering getting it done in Canada and I found most Canadian LASIK offices quote prices in US dollars. I even found one place that had a package trip where it's one lump sum and you get the surgery plus 3 nights in a hotel. The only downfall I see about doing the surgery in Canada is that you don't get all the post op visits. The place I was considering was www.lasikmd.ca, it's where my cousin in Vancouver had her surgery. They told me if I was coming from the US then I could schedule a 3 day procedure with pre op, then surgery, then post op. They offered me the additional post op visits but they were optional since I was coming from the states. I guess the post op visits aren't too important if the surgery goes well and I doubt seeing a local optimists would cost that much per visit

Yeah going to Canada would be a pretty big trip for me. The surgery is scary enough without going to another country to have it done. I'm starting to wonder if I'll even be able to afford it.

I've been thinking of having it done. I'll ask my optometrist next time I see him about lasers vs retainer contacts vs others.
