Yet another HT question

I am planning on putting together a 7.1 (8.1 if there's such a thing) home theater system. Opinions on speakers and receivers aside, I have a question about the interconnects and other various cables. All those cables are sure to put a strain on the back plane of your receiver. Anyone have any solutions as to how to lessen that load? Perhaps some kind of brackets, like you see in data closets?

they are just pieces of wire... and although there might be alot of them, the back of a receiver was designed to hold them. You should be fine

If its that important why don't you rig something up with cable ties and a few dowl(sp?) rods? I don't really think it's necessary though. They were designed to be used that way

At work we put it strain relief bars behind all the components. The bar is a strip of metal with holes drilled in it. We bend the ends at 90 degree angles then screw them into the side of the cabinet. Then we run the cables from the components to bar and attach them with velcro tie wraps, which can be undone easier than the plastic kind. Its very easy to bundle up and extra slack and hang it from the relief bars.

Just pieces of wire, eh? True, yet I will not be using your flimsy out-of-the-box speaker wire. I had it in mind to use 12-guage stranded copper... shielded, of course. Running that to seven or eight speakers is sure to be enough to cause a little unneeded stress.

So far, I have a DIY solution from Snuffaluffaguss. Any other good ideas?
